I have an issue with some drywall on the celling of my kitchen. After removing a bracket it appears that it was never primed so all the paint pealed off. So being the investigator I am I started pulling. Now I have a 6 by 6 that needs serious work. I could use some advise or a estimate.

well that seems to suck I'm not a dry waller but I've done it before with my dad for side jobs 6 by 6 isn't too big shouldn't cost u much at all could easily be done yourself need 2 sheets of 5/8 dry wall some dry wall "mud" and screws. i'm not sure how much it would cost to have someone fix it

do you need to replace the drywall, or just fix it? Fixing/replacing drywall isn't hard, just messy. Very messy.

The question is " something may be leaking above it "

Nothing is leaking and it looks as if it was repaired before. the dry wall on the ceiling and where the wall meets had a gap of over a 1/4 inch. So do I tape it fill it with plaster..... It needs to be patched and primed and textured painted. I don't know how many coats of primer or texture paint to bring it up to the same hight as the rest of the ceiling. I figure its gonna take a while to build up coats to get the effect I want.
