LOL, where will it end?

Will it end? Is there any reason to believe we wont see $5 a gallon? They have the country by the balls, we NEED gas and will have to pay whatever they charge. We can cut back, ride a bike, but we still will buy gas sooner or later. This is complete bullshit.

How are you guys adjusting to these high fuel prices????

I have done some pretty big adjustments....

1. I ONLY drive my diesel Excursion for towing my ATV / car trailer and boat and those trips have be trimmed back quite a bit...

2. I fine tuned ( major tune up and tune in ) my 99 Crown Vic 4.6 to get the best mileage ( without that hypermiling crap I don't want to F with ) ...

3. If prices stay this high or get higher may bring out my 87 Thunderbird 2.3 4 cylinder TURBO COUPE as a "back and forth" to work car as the car will get better MPG than the Crown Vic does.....I may even change the gear ratio on the Crown Vic to 3.27 instead of the 3.55 it has now....I have heard it's quite a gain on the MPG by dropping the gear ratio on those cars...

How are you guys adjusting to this????

I'm in the process of buying a 40mpg+ beater to take the place of my DD. And leave the Cummins for towing work only.

Seriously, i wouldnt be suprised if you heard of tankers being takin over. Which would suck because we have made quite a few friends with our drivers, but there is always a limit people will allow things to get to before a drastic measure is taken place.

My brothers friend Drives truck and he heard out in Indiana someone hauling a tanker of gas got held at gunpoint and the truck and trailer got stolen.

for the person to find out 30 min later the trailer was empty and left it at a rest stop

dammm and i just bought my SUV...good news put 350 miles on the tank...filled up..averaged 20 mpg.............i can't cut back on my driving....if i do...i don't eat or have a place to sleep...unless beags idea works like Ron suggested....

went to one of my customers today...he's in trucking....he has 25 rigs.....15 were sitting in the yard....4.50+ for fuel..he says it's killing him right now....

was sitting tonight watching seans game...and noticed ALL the planes taking off from Timmerman.....aviation fuel is more...i don't see these guys cutting back....

can't go to our Governor and b1tch to him...he could give a shit.....and yet the fuel companies brag on how much profit they are making....leagal porn..they are screwing us in public...and no one will do anythng about it....and i don't see a end in sight with whom ever we get as a new pres......we are screwed guys...

Its only a matter of time, I just PLEASE wish they wouldn't hurt the drivers. They are just making an honest living like the rest of us NON Government/Oil Company/Theives in this world!

I bought a motorcycle and have been freezing my ass in the morning driving it to work even with the temps in the 30's in the AM...

I also have a mountain bike I may be pedaling my ass around town when I need to run errands, go to Blockbuster, etc.

Adam's been taking his motorcycle each morning, but I went to fill up the van and BMW this morning at $3.99. A few cent difference doesn't amount to a lot normally, but that van has a huge gas tank in it. Figured out the mileage though - 14 miles to the gallon and that's with me driving it and I think we towed with it a couple times on that tank. I'm seeing more of those little scooters around New Berlin. They were pretty popular down in Whitewater, but now that my new job is 7 miles away straight down Greenfield, that isn't all that bad of idea. Not sure how much those things are though, but I still think I would get more use out of a motorcycle since Adam and I like going for drives as it is.

My TA isn;t running yet, and I stopped caring. I'm probably just going to close it up, pull the insurance and put the cover back on it.

It's bad when your toy gets better MPG than your daily. LOL. I did pull 26 miles per gallon in it with steady (not granny) acceleration, slowing down near red lights so I could hopefully not have to stop completely for them, etc. LT1 powah! :goof Only managed 21.5 or so out of the caprice.

Took my Trek to Wheel and Sprocket for a make over 2 days ago. New rubber, pedals, straighten rims., etc....

It was 3.94 yesterday and it was 4.07 this morning. That just might of broke the camel's back for me. I'll pedal my ass to work. 40-50 mins a day of biking will do me some good.

Starting to think the same thing. Only bike I have at home is my big hit/freeride bike (5-6" of non-lockable suspension travel is brutal on long road rides).

Gonna steal my good hardtail back from my brother and throw skinny road tires on it and see how pedaling to work goes. 14 miles isn't that much. An hour ride or so, showers available at work, more exercise. Sounds pretty good to me.

I'll still support Smokey though when I need to, but damn :stare

I heard on MSNBC news cast that for truckers it cost them $1,000 just to fill up. Also some places require the drivers to pay for it up front and then the company reimburses them. That must be brutal on them and their families.

I heard on the radio that the cost of gas was going up to $4.19 on the ride in saw a gas station that was at 3.95 so i filled up on 7.2 gallons of gas it still cost me $28.75. I remember back in the day on filling up my truck for $20. God I missed those days.

I been cutting back on driving places and now I might get my bike from my parents this weekend to start biking for errands. I cannot wait till my lease is up I am moving as close to my work as possible so I can walk or bike there.

lol you aint kiddin, its getting to the point i cant even buy fuel from myself! Luckily, ive got a beater or 2 lined up to buy in the next couple weeks. It will be soooo nice to see 450 miles out of a tank that only costed me $60. Versus 510 miles that costed me $128

More mileage mods for the nissan here... and i need to slow down a bit, hauling a$$ is expensive in fuel, I can really tell the difference in mileage if I get up over 70mph.
