But im looking at trying to get a mint 84 Honda Magna V65 1100.

http://www.magnaownersoftexas.org/v65/v65article.htm

But since i cant afford a new cruiser or a used one for that matter and still put my car on the road this year, ive started looking at these... I actually got to ride one this past weekend and it wasnt too bad, little top heavy and quirky to ride at first but i was deffinately getting way to confident on it quickly.

But these things were essentially the first factory super-bikes and hada goofy V4 1100 cc engine that they ran high 10's @ nearly 130! that is fukkin haulin for something this old!

The things are kinda fun to ride cuz they have a ton of low end like a v-twin and just start pulling pretty dam hard above 5k, spinning to 10K. It would wheelie a bit in 2nd from rolling it to wide open from 4k or so.

yes they are kinda ugly and very 80's but im more after the the sleeper affect of playing with 600's with less than perfect riders and being able to surprise them. These things are like the grand national of bikes to me haha

Ohhh - I had an '84 back in the day. Lightening fast... Advertised 0-60 time was 2.2 seconds...

Smoove as silk with the shaft drive - I loved mine...

There was one like that by my house for sale recently, i never thought to stop and look at. When i did, someone bought it already.

I bought a VF1100C V65 Magna in 1983 when they first came out. I still remember the Honda commercial with Pee Wee Gleason riding the bike to a 10.84 @ 124.82.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGfJ9IqXcoE

I only needed to see it once. $3800 later, I picked mine up in April of 1983. I didn't even have my cycle license yet, just my temps. I was scared as fvck when I got dropped off at the dealer to ride it home. The only other bikes I'd ever ridden were a Rupp mini-bike at 13 and a Kawasaki 100cc enduro when I was 14/15 years old. Now I was hopping on an 1100cc monster...

I made it home OK and didn't kill myself on it, (Not without a lack of trying, though. Ah, the recklessness of youth...:durr)

I don't know if you've ever ridden a bike with a driveshaft, but watch how you modulate the throttle in low speed corners in first or second gear. That shaft will try and buck you right off the bike.

Wanna have some fun? Use the engine's torque. Go WOT but instead of running the engine to red-line, speed shift at about 5000 rpms. You should get a power wheelie on every shift up through at least third gear.:thumbsup
