New twin-charged kit from ZZP. They had GREAT results with the GTP they did this way, and it looks like the Cobalt SS will be pretty nasty too!

you could make so much more power if you just ditch the supercharger....

there are a bunch of guys who have produced 400 + hp with a basic tune and 15 lbs of boost. im seemingly unimpressed with this kit.. ive been watching this project sense day one...

here is just a turbo'd swapped cobalt... twin charged kits are a heat soak nightmare.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oLoNKcrIBEQ&feature=related but the tune on the hahn car is weak.

twincharge is cool, but honestly, its not practical IMO. You'll see better results from doing a straight turbo swap on the lsj.

Update on their twin charge kit.

I think its a great way to make power.... keeping the low end torque of the roots blower, and gaining the high end horsepower of the turbo.

Heat soak is less with this, because you get to keep the liquid/air I/C under the blower, and add an air/air I/C for the turbo.

yeah but you can lose the heat soak simply buy switching to a cobar heat exchanger and a dual pass end plate. but im not going to lie.. 440 on race gas isnt bad.. but there are guys dropping 400 hp in pump gas with a t3/t4 57 trim

didn't it say 440whp on pump gas???

on the cobalt and redline forms they told everybody race gas...

i believe.. either way this setup is in no way efficient specially for a daily driver

also i forgot to mention that the guys dropping 400 hp with turbo's are only boosting 12-13 lbs

This is where I got that from. Its in the link that brian posted.

We modified the fuel system to feed a hungry motor, upgraded the air/air IC to a larger unit, and upgraded the turbo to an extended tip model with the same size inducer. The results are nothing short of amazing. 440WHP on pump gas, shattering any egos left in our competitor's stable.

i went back to dot net and check it out he had mention they where going to do a dyno pull on race gas thats why i got it mixed up..

i didnt know these were capable of putting down this much hp in near stock for!

pretty neat!

I read early on the 2.0 Eco had a stout lower end stock, any substantiated
numbers anybody has heard? Factory backed drag cars are far from stock
lower so no qoutes of those HP needed.

The only problem is that the stock top end will not hold up those kinds of HP numbers very long. I know of two people that did turbo swaps on the LSJ that were over 400hp on the stock internals and they lasted maybe 6 months. Currently both guys are doing full builds.

Yea I had heard similar... The stock internals on the LSJ don't handle much over 300hp reliably.

But, they are well flowing top ends tho, and overall well designed. Just need some better hardware.

there are about 5 or so guys who are putting down 400 hp on a stock powertrain with turbo's... half have just had to replace clutches.. thats it.

and tyler is right there are currently to guys replacing pistons due to ring failure.

my cavy would have raped it.

I wouldnt mind picking up a SS, pulling the Eco-POS out and dropping in a built/turboed LD9.

Your cavy went high 11's, right? And wasnt traction still a problem the first 60' on slicks, too?

I'm curious to see what they get their SS to run down the 1320....

Cough Cough the turbo cobalts are out now. Drove a few and they will probly have LOT of potential once somone makes charge pipes and intakes for them talk about restriction.

Twin charge would be pretty insane but it must take lots of tuening to make it run corectly i cant see it working to hot with our tempeture changes around here.

well the lnf is going to be a beast to tune with 609 fuel parameters.. but a stg 4 solstice is like 480 hp.. so i would say that the potential for it being a monster is totally there. but if i could get my hands on a cobalt ss/sc and swap a turbo on it i would every guy who as done it so far has seen over 400 hp under 15lbs..

Are the 08s at dealerships around here already? I've look on Chevy's site, the locator only seems to find the regular Sport ones.

We had a silver one that was ordered so it was gone the day it came in. There MIGHT be a black one at west bend heiser. I think chris still is there he would know for sure. It got sent up there from west allis but it might be sold already(someone was intersted in it) there are no more 08s comming i guess for us anyway. They didnt start production on them till middle of the year end i guess. So 09s will be the next ones out the door i guess. There fricken sweet brembo brakes nice wheels. Seats are comfortable as hell. The grill has a mesh look that looks 100times better.

The new LNF cobalts are really hard to find. When the 09's SS/TC's come out you will be able to choose from a coupe or a sedan. About a month ago I went to a big meet down in Arlington Heights, IL and I was able to talk with some of the GM Performance engineers about the differences between the old SC cars and the new TC cars. It was a very interesting conversation and learn quite a bit from them. Here are some pics of GM's demo car that had black wheels that they are thinking about offering as an option.
