Since it's a C-body, I would bet you could go from there. By the way, Wikipedia says they were rear wheel drive until 1984, from '85 on they were front wheel drive. Is this thing stock? You sure you have the year right?

Me too :thumbsup I have probably spent more time on Wikipedia than any other site over the past 2 yrs. What a great resource! Did you know it's like the #7 site on the net? (Google/yahoo/msn/myspace top the list)

I know it didn't tell you what you wanted to know, but it did tell me it's a C body, which I didn't know before. At least you have a list of other more popular/common C body's that most likely share the same motor/trans/rear. A little research into those more common cars, get codes off doors/parts and you'll get the answers you're looking for. That's what I would do anyway.

If you have access to the car, check the RPO codes. They should at least get you a good start.

If you know of a friendly dealership you may be able to run the VIN and get the info on what it came from the factory with. The Dodge dealer in my hometown did that for my '87 Cherokee for free. It took about five minutes and the guy gave me a print out.

Not all dealers like to "inconvenience" themselves though so you may need a friend inside. I'm also not sure how far back the records go or if each dealership has access to them.

That's for the regular car versions. They still made RWD V8 fullsize wagons into the 90's. The boxy style went till like 1990, then the orca style caprice, custom cruiser, roadmaster wagons. An 85 Buick probably has the Olds 307 in it most likely with a 2004r

It probably has a TH350C (lockup converter) and a 2.73 cogs. The ones I've climbed over had those options.
