im looking into getting a pacesetter long tube header for my balt. instead of the short tube aftermarket i have. my question is whats the general consistences on this name brand. i know they make alot of v8 products but ive heard rumors as to there quality. such as welds breaking, rusting, and generally not the best ceramic coating..

just curious to see if anybody had 2 cents to throw at this.

Get it bare finish and have someone coat it.I know alot of ppl that run those on diff cars and ive never heard of them breaking.

i got them on my TA and i got the uncoated... theve been on the car for about 3 years now and even through one winter the rust is minimal but i haven't gotten underneath to check out by the collectors yet... no leaks and no breakage tho..

definately dont get them coated. i had some on my saturn and they rusted out, quick. get them bare. they are cheap, but get the job done. i had one weld that was sh*tty only to find out later that they would have replaced it for free. so why not?

I have coated long tubes on my WS6 and the quality is awesome. They've never seen winter though, so maybe that's the difference. No complaints here.

Did Jordan use HPTuners? If he did, why did it work for his PCM and not yours?

yes jordan used hptuners... they support him and the ss n/a but they wont support me.. its really bullshit if you ask me.. the worst part is they support 07's but they dont support 05' 06' because they changed the pcm's its retarted.

Lesson learned, don't buy Cobalts...haha

Car should scoot pretty good if you boost that sucker.

understatement....230hp at 8lbs... not bad...12lbs at 250... there is a guy who did it who is running a piggy back he runs 13.5's all day long.. on stock internals

I have never owned a fast car, but to me 13's is not fast...its quick but not fast. To me fast is 11's and faster.

But a 13 second Cobalt will kill from a roll.

TOG's for $195 seem like a good deal... considering the TOG's for my GTP were like $800 or something (coated).

yeah thats a short tube header though.. i have one.. that im getting rid of.. im looking for a long tube header. i have the gm shorty header. its a restrictive pile of crap...

im looking for the long tube for a few reasons...

long tubes are nice, but for a street driven car(4-cyl) i prefer the shorty...

i've had both in different situations... lost a little low end with the long tube, didn't help i had WAY too big of an intake manifold on the car either, but the car hit like veetack at 4k and wound strong to the fuel cut... on the other hand, my shorty is great all the way through the revs, but drops off a little up top(but that could be my cam also.. dang srt4 parts)... pacesetter is what i've got for a shortie, but i had the welds all gone over before i installed it, just for piece of mind.

I think if your going to put a turbo on this car, buying any header at all is dumb. The turbo kit you buy will most likely come with it's own header, and even if it doesn't, the shorty style will be what its designed around.

Don't knock the cast iron stuff. It works. I'm running the factory cast iron log manifolds on my Cobra. They look like freaking garbage from a flow perspective, yet I'm putting out over 600 CORRECTED RWHP. My only exhaust mods are an off-road x-pipe and a Magnaflow cat-back.
