Saw a story on JSonline that Milwaukee Police are switching over to Black and White Squads in the next few weeks. The only thing I don't know yet is if they are gonna paint them all right away or if it will be a slow switchover as they buy new cars each year. Here is a link to the story and a picture, both taken from jsonline.com.

Retro stuff was neat oh about, 10-15 years ago....now its getting old.

Now if they started using the same style cars they did back in the 60's, that would be cool.

great so waste more tax paying $$ just so they can have a retro theme squad car....isnt there something better they can spend OUR money on? Like hiring more cops or perhaps calling back 911 calls that could perhaps save lives?

It's actually probably a little cheaper to repair then the white and blues. Just from a paint perspective.

Maybe they are hoping by doing this crime will somehow go retro as well?

From my understanding they will repaint the 'new' cars that have not been fitted with the radios, light bars, cage, ect, ect, ect.. But, a car that is already out on the street will not be repainted.. The white w/ blue stripe will be faded out as they are retired or in most cases.. CRASHED!

That makes the most sense, and kind of what I figured. Thanks for confirming.

Honestly, White/Black cars are soo much easier to see so maybe it will?

Yeah its that 3m Reflective stuff. Kinda pricey, but I am sure they get a fairly decent price on it thru bulk purchasing. I suppose they figure when the front end gets smashed all they gotta do is paint it, and throw on a couple little unit numbers and its back on the road.

Having lived many years in California, I like B&W police cars. They look like what they are.
