I thought it was official on 2007-11-10 when "The Journal Times" in Racine published it? I saved the webpage to disk for future reference.

I can just see everyone hacking off their cats and throwing them away. I'll be cruising the alleys looking for them to recycle.

I remeber nobody beleiving me in late 06 when I said it.....and again
and again as its been brought up in the last year :) As much as I
drink I wouldnt beleive me either.

Technicaly it wasnt going into effect until next spring I beleive,
probably accelerated as other states follwed suit earlier than
the had planned.

Good thing I never bothered in the first place. I suppose it is a selling point for my car though.

Two questions, I have a 1990 Accord EX as my DD. I was just mailed the emission letter, does this mean there's no way for me to skip the emissions since it was already mailed to me? Or could I just not drive the car until July and then reregister it or "sell" it to my wife and not have to worry about emissions. I'm asking because I need a new cat and don't feel like buying one right now.
Also are the removing the equipment to test alltogther? I'm asking because of people that have OBDII cars that wouldn't pass the normal test but do pass the OBDII test. I know some places will want to test the actual tailpipe if they don't think the car is compliant.

let it expire then reregister it. :)

They're trashing everything except the OBD2 readers after July. So they won't be able to check your tailpipes anymore. Even if you go in there reeking of leaded race gas... if your computer says it's fine... there's nothing for them to do.

Awesome, I look forward to it.

Ironic side note:[/I] When I originally received the notice in the mail I didn't specifically look at the date for when I had to get it done by. Well I just went to look and it's June 30th, [B]which is ONE day before the new law goes into effect...!!! I can see this turning into a shouting match if I go into the DMV to get this resolved.....

I'll keep you posted.....:thumbsup

Ouch one day.

My parent's just bought a new car today so I might drive their old one until July and just reregister my Accord then.

Yeah I've had it for awhile now. Just the cat needs replaced and there's a hole in the pipe in front of it. I already replaced the catback and don't feel like replacing more on my beater car. That and I work less than a 1/4 from my house so it's not like I'm really doing any harm to the enviroment.

Yes, well not really.....

I will be going to a different DMV today to find someone else that might be a little more knowledgeable about the situation. I had to inform two DMV workers at the location I went to as they were like :confused when I asked about it.....

Doesn't surprise me one bit, typical gov't workers.....:goof
