Hey All,

I am going to need to get my Drivers seat recovered in my Crown Vic. My Seat heater malfunctioned and burned a small hole right through my seat. I am looking for a good place to take it for estimates. If the same shop also offers new Seat heater elements that would also be helpful.

I am working with the company who originally installed the seat heaters but looking for a backup plan should they not be able to help me out.

I had a black leather seat in my prelude repaired... looked awesome, couldnt even tell. It was done my hall vw on bluemound. I'm sure they had someone else do it though. I would look into some do it yourself kits, if it's minor.

Thanks for the suggestions guys,

The hole that made it all the way through the leather looks more like a cig burn but it looks really charred inside the seat. They are also going to have to open up the seat and replace the heating units. I certainly don't trust the ones in there anymore.

I'm not even sure if I do get the repairs covered under some kind of warranty if I would want the same kind of seat heaters installed.

May I ask who did the install?

Stay Tuned has a dealer service branch as well, very capable of doing that kind of work.

The 2 that coop mentioned are excellent too.

Well, I ordered the seat heaters thru Boucher L-M when I bought the car. I believe the install was done by Erickson auto trim. I am in the process to see what they can do for me. The heaters are just over 3 years old and i think they had a 3 year warranty. Waiting for a phone call hopefully tomorrow with good news.

If I gotta pay out of pocket though, then I will be hitting all the places mentioned and getting estimates. Stay Tuned is high on that list as they have done alot of stuff for me lately. :thumbsup

Well, I have an appt on Thursday to get the car looked at by the dealer and Erickson auto trim. Unfortunately as suspected I am out of warranty as of 12/07. :fire They said they will look at it and see if they can help me out. I guess I just wait, cross my fingers and see what happens.

Well, its now June 19th and Erickson Auto Trim came thru. They honored the warranty even though its now almost 6 months expired. The only thing I am slightly unhappy with is that it took two months for them to make a decision. I pick up the car in the morning, hopefully they did a nice job.

Yes, Everything was replaced as it was, new heater element and they replaced the entire lower seat cover with OEM Leather. I bought the cover on the cheap and told them to use it. All should be good.

Got the car back, It turned out real nice. I asked them what caused the failure, and he told me that there was some paper that got stuck to the heating element inside the seat. I guess it was something they left in there 3.5 years ago. Glad they took care of it, because if I would have found that Id have been really pissed.
