BBC Spark Plug Recommendations.....

Well spring is here so that means another new set of spark plugs for the Chevelle. I have been using 'header plugs' for the past few years just because they fit soo much better than the standard lengths. They have the Accel brand name on them but are really made by Denso, so I'm guessing they are a decent plug....


I was just curious if there was a better plug to go with that will also fit with my setup...???

Another NGK fan here. Fleet & Farm stock's em cheap, like $1.80. If your know a stock application you can look it up in their book, cross reference, and then change to the heat range you want. For instance an NGK TR6 is colder than a TR5, and a TR4 is the hottest.

I don't believe NGK makes a shorty style plug...get a better spark plug wrench (I made my own) and better boots and looms, and you shouldn't really have a problem.

spark plug socket and a wrench is the only way I can get my #1 cylinder spark plug out.

I just bought a set of shorties to try on my TA, and they are barely any shorter then the Autolites I've been using. Kind of disappointing, especially considering what I had to pay for them.

Autolite are 3924, the Accel shorties were 416S
