Like the title states.

My Dog got lose and he was only 3 houses down from where I live (Greendale).
My dog approched our mail man with no problems, so he held my dog (has met my dog before)and called police (protocol),told the officer exactly where I live and even pointed to the house but the cop was to lazy to walk 3 houses down so he took him to the station.

I get a call on my phone from the department stating they have my dog and I'm like how I just let him out 10 minutes ago, but they said they had him so I checked my backyard and sure enough he was gone and upon close inspection the spring for the clip came out making it stick wide open.

So I told the lady that I'll be right there and she then stated it will cost me $25 to have him returned to me, Im like what? It's my F'ing dog I paid for the micro chipping incase something like this happens so they can return him to me pronto but no they want their money for housing him in a dog crate. She also stated that if I dont pick him up right away that I will be paying Animal control $45 plus other BS fee's to get him back and if they sent him to the Humane Society they are going to charge me $250. I'm like WTF I only paid $75 for this dog back in the day micro'd chipped and everything now they would charge me for picking up my missing dog?

Anyways I bail out the Convict and only to go retrieve him from a dog crate that was inside their parking garage. Great! possible Carbon Monoxide poisioning, great thinking there by my local goverment.

I talked to the cop that picked him up and asked him why he didnt return him when the mailman showed you where I lived. He stated that it was policy and I said that your policy is to "serve" me the civillian, it would have only taken you 5 minutes. He had no comment.

Gee cops are not like they used to be.... Helpful and problem solving. Now they always needing to take the easy way out of things.

They got $25 from you so techincally he did his job. It's not to protect and serve, it's to generate revenue.

Hopefully you were kind enough to tip him like any good service.

Its not that Im upset about the $25 its the fact that the police are supposed to have the micro identification equipment in their cars.

I've never heard that. Some vets may have them, and the humane society's. But I've never heard that police departments would have the readers.

Does your dog have to see a parole officer now...or community service? Like feeding homeless cats?

Lucky you didnt get a ticket!! No joke.

My dads dog strayed to the prick neighbors yard. Cops came. Grabbed the dog. Called my dad and told him to come pick up his dog and his $100 dog at large ticket. I couldnt believe it.

True, but they probably lost money with all of the driving around.
