Well my Cobra should be sold in less than a week and I already moved onto the next thing....

2005 Ardent Red Lotus Elise, it was actually a thread on here from a member asking what new car he should go with that got me thinking, and I sealed the deal Friday.

Car has;
stage 2 exhaust
exige side scoops
all black badging
carbon fiber ext mirrors
Boston Acustics Speakers, amp, sub (stock audio system is crap)
I have already bought:
Weapon R Race Header
10K HID Lighting

Now I just need to get her out of California, should be here in 2 weeks or so....

One person who has an Elise was clipped in a parking lot that cracked the front clamshell.

The bill came to $11,000 to replace everything.

Make sure you get excellent coverage on that thing. ;)

im selling the cobra to the first person to get me the money for it.

I love the styling of the Elise, much better than the cobra if you ask me.

They never used an ecotec motor in an elise, however there is one company that offers the swap, I believe the price is 11K tho.

And Sonic, pm me if you wanna go for a spin, I'd be glad to.

Clam repair is expensive if the front and rear are busted, it is very expensive aka totalled.

Nevr mind the price-to-HP, this car is all about HP-to-weight ratio. It only weighs like 1,800lbs.

I like them, but I would in no way trade up a 03 cobra for that. IMO the cobra is a HELL of alot more car.

Nice though!!!!

the elise would spank it on the twisties

the elise would spank it on the twisties

It very well could.

I have had the chance to drive both as my boss used to have one of these and I know several people with 03/04 cobra's. I still think the cobra is alot more car and IMO the cobra dont handle to shabby either....

Reverend Cooper
04-20-2008, 06:05 PM
altho cobras handle great, that elise is a go kart its power to weight ration is as good or better that the cobra, not to mention weight distribution is better and the car is closer to the ground. at elkart i would much rather drive the elise,on the street it would be a hard decision. i have driven both and like them very much. the elise is a bad ass looking little car tho

to be honest, I am done with Ford's shabby build quality. Im sick of the rear end clunk, I hate the fact that I would have to spend an arm and a leg to re-enforce the rear IRS, I dont like the gas mileage as I just drive it basically to work and back. It needs new tires and brakes.

I dont know, its hard to explain but I'm ready to see it go, dont think I'll shed a tear or look back either. I've only owned camaro's (still have my 98) and this cobra so I look very forward to trying something different....From here I'd like to go Porsche next something like that, for now hanging it up on the muscle car.

udlose98
04-20-2008, 06:12 PM
and to be honest the price on the car is not bad at all, and its all about power to weight not power to dollar. An 05 can be had for under 30K and take you from 0-60 in under 5, stock. With some further weight reduction, intake + exhaust...that time starts to go south.

the only thing i am not crazy about on the 1.8 gts motor is they are very prone to valve damage due to over revv. word to the wise dont do it. also make sure that you keep the oil level proper as it is a chain motor with a hydrolic tensioner no or low oil is a issue keeping the chain tight. i would also recc. checking into tsb's for that engine i do know that there have been issues with the vvti bolts fractureing causing isues with oil getting to the vvti to operate it properly,if it were to fall under that i would get it handles prev. for fear of bigger issues later. that car if you can get a blower or turbo would respond well

looked at an 05 vette, but it stopped there, just looked. Love the car, love chevy, but pulled the trigger on the Lotus instead after getting a first hand overview from a owner out in Brookfield.

well now i am gonna never rev over 3500 ha.

SC kits are readily available, but at 5K+ per kit....I dont see that happening. For now intake, exhaust, header, lighter battery and some visual stuff will be all for mods...i'd like to see it in the 4.5-4.7 0-60 range. SC kits put it right at 3.8 - 4 and make about 240-250 rwhp.

a new thing to learn though. Very specifics to follow on maintenance to those cars right? They even have to be jacked up a certain way with the enclosed underbody. There were pics on the net of one falling off a lift at a tire shop. That must have sucked.

Great pickup! They are beautiful machines and definate eye turners!!

Think that you could bring it to my charity event on may 16th
