So my rims where in very bad shape. I had to drive my car a few times this winter and they took a beating. While most of you were asleep I was wet sanding my rims. I am very happy with how they turned out.

Here are a few pics I took of the progress!

What they looked like before I started!

I still need to polish them with a powerball. All of the sanding and polishing was done by hand. I started by using 800 grit sand paper and then moved up to 1000 grit and then 2000 grit. After I had everything sanded good I used 3M rubbing compound to get out the scratches and then I use the wenol blue to polish them.

I still have the 2 rear tires to do and at least they are still in pretty good condition so they shouldn't take as long and yes I did this in my living room.:banana1:

When refinishing aluminum you don't want to sand anymore than 800 grit. After that it's up to white rouge to finish the job. Might wanna look into a Eastwood buffer. Moving up to 1000, then 2000 is actually creating a haze over what should be highly reflective polished aluminum. My dad has done alot of that stuff on the side, so I've learned from him. You can even find stuff online about refinishing wheels. Maybe it's your pics, but they look like they need alot of work yet.

They are coming along nicely, much better then they were thats for sure.

Aluminum wheels have to be buffed out like every year correct? Seems like my buddy is doing his all the time, why don't they polish them at the factory then clear coat them?

Either way, looking good so far.
