since there seems to be a few topics about these going these days I'm posting up mine.

This one may have been posted before? Not sure

HPI RS4 Type 3 SS nitro car. This body I painted as a kit. There are a few mess ups here and there but it was fun to do. You'll know its not a bought one when you see it cause you'll see my goofs. This car isnt modded at all so its only as fast as they come out of the box

This is the KING!! My older brother (44 yrs old) built this TMAXX and just doesnt use it anymore. He is more into his stadium trucks and electric in house ones. I have a electric stampede he wants for his daughter so when I go to charlotte in may I am coming home with a new toy. I dont know everything done to this but its more of a 1/8th scale with extensions than 1/10

Cool! I'd love to get a Nitro RC. Is there anywhere to run them competitively around here? I only know of Trackside and that's Indoor Electric.

all I know of are in IL but there are a ton of areas around my place to thrash the hell out of em. Competitive gets costly really quick. Even more than everyday running and thrashing of them

I need a trans for mine..... ate up the 2 speed on monday, not sure how/why.....

I need to pick up a body for mine as well, the one that came with the car is ugly as hell.

hell part of the fun for me is painting the bodies LOL

I would like to say driving them is fun but I always end up crashing them and pissing myself off so my last memory is my nice newish car slamming into a curb at 60mph and puking parts all over like a 16 year old sneaking out his dad's tequila

you wanna see some whoopass r/c racing...take a drive up here and check out the Midwest Tri-Clone. Big smooth paved tri oval, the cars just fly! Do you race or just beat around?

MoCkiN U
04-23-2008, 11:43 PM
beat around mostly. racing costs tons extra to be competitive

I had one back in highschool, was a gasser and beat to piss when I bought it but man it was a blast. I don't even remember what model it was, was a truck with 4wd and fast as piss.

What does a truck like that cost now-a-days? I bought mine used and already built, but I heard when you buy these new you put them together yourself?

there is about a $75 to $100 dollar difference between a RTR (ready to run) kit and one you build. If you build it they are cheaper. A RTR Traxxas is about $400 right now. Cars like the one I have pictured RTR is about $300 or so. Some build it cars dont come with the radio which makes the end price the same but imo not as fun cause you build it all.

They come with a frame and the motor assembled. You do everything else including building the shocks and filling them with oil. A monkey can do it and they are tons of fun. Took me 2 nights at a slow pace to finish it. Maybe 6 hours total

Whats the radio cost? I bought mine CHEAP, I think 100 bucks for the truck AND the Radio with a small tackle box full of spare parts. It was a pretty tough truck though, I don't remember ever breaking anything on it

eh $45-$80 I think I gotta check. What makes them more expensive is if they come with the servos or not. I find them online right now for $70

this is a great truck from HPI

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXMYA2&P=0

then their stadium truck

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXRSJ8&P=0

Both of those trucks are under $350 so with the radio it would be just as much as the RTR kit. Just depends on what you want

You can get used traxxas trucks for stupid cheap. $400 trucks for like $200 used in car forums all the time. Big 1/10 or 1/8 scale trucks are great for dirt shreddin and jumping. Cars are for smooth pavement or concrete and all out speed. Stadium trucks or 'truggies" are the best of both worlds. Geared for speed but enough torque to run in dirt or grass

I like the cars, but hell the roads are soo bad after winter I can't imagine finding a parking lot good enough to run them in either. The one you posted looks like it sits LOOOOOW

So when we gonna meet up? I've also got a .21 Tmaxx, only problem is I need stronger diffs. What do you have in there for diffs?

I don't think anywhere locally really carries tmaxx stuff anymore? Atleast not like they used to.

I over revved it and the rod let go. I might just get a whole new motor and call it a day. I'm not really happy with this one anyways.

rubicon, are you the one I was chatting with on COD4 last week about RCs? If so when I get back from charlotte with this truck I'll be ready for some RC fun for sure!!

I might be mistaken but I think it has the unlimited engineering diffs in it. whatever brand they are they are aluminum. He says there is an issue switching into 2nd gear. I can get that squared away real quick.

as for cleaning up the clutter.....Hell yeah, lets do it

Nah I'm in the army and visiting from AZ. :) I'm part of the PC COD4 crew :D

Its got a tank off of a Ofna 9.5 buggy with some tweaked fuel tank posts. When are you getting back?

VERY Nice on the UE diffs!! Those suckers are expensive, I was looking into them. But since they are a higher gear you need to re-gear the transmission/spur/clutch bell also :(

HobbyTown USA in Delafield right by Rocky Rococo's has the biggest in-store stock & selection of any hobby shop I have seen in Wisconsin since that Hobby shop in Richfield/hubertus closed recently.

There is a shop on County Line (Q) and Appleton in Germantown that has a bunch of R/C stuff too. It is in the strip mall in front of Fleet Farm. Same owners as the one in Delafield.
