Hey guys. I am in need of some new shocks for my 92 Chevy 1500 Z71 4x4.

the truck currently has some older model Rancho's (been on there since the mid 90's)
But they are junk now. the seals are out and the ride has gotten much worse.

So i am looking into some newer shocks. So what are some good brands i should look into or place to go buy them? I haven't been into the truck/4wheel drive scene in a long time now.

Also Do i need to order them for a Z71 (i heard they are longer?) Thanks BCM. :headbang

The Z71s used a Bilstein shock (yellow/blue series) Theyre not taller but theyre a MUCH nicer shock than the regular delco ones.

Get another set of the Ranchos... I had 'em on my Grand Cherokee and they were awesome! I had the RS9000 Adjustables... Plus if you wanna get all fancy you can get the thing where you can adjust 'em from inside your truck...

I had similar problems with the RS9000s too. Put the bilsteins on.

i know the rancho's that are on mine are 12-15 years old and just not got bad. I don't plan on keeping the truck longer then a year so i don't wanna spend a fortune just need something new.

Also i don't want to have to modify or mock up anything to get them to work, just a simple bolt in application. and the truck almost never see off road.

I've got Rancho RS9000's on my Jeep and they are awesome. I've gone over lots of bumpy shit using the full length of the shocks. No problems with seals here, I love running them on the softest setting. Suuuch a nice ride!

I put... 90k on mine with no issues... Except once I had the adjuster knob freeze up... But I got that loose easy enough... Personally, I'd reccomend 'em, and I'd buy 'em again...

I had them on a 93 Chevy Z71 that I plowed with and also towed my car with, so they got beat up pretty bad. 3 of the 4 were leaking when I pulled them off. I had them on for about 2 years before swapping them back out for the bilsteins.

Thanks guys. I'll call Napa and see how much stockers are and make some calls to see how much the Rancho's are.

90k of towing the boat (23ft Natique Ski Boat & the Pontoon Boat), Multiple different trailers hauling different things (ranging from U-Haul enclosed trailers with boxes to car trailers with cars_... and some off-road abuse... :thumbsup They were on it for about... 5 years when I sold it...

If you just want cheap shocks buy them off eBay from Superlift. They're decent shocks. Or if you want to get them local get some $20/each Monroes.

Bilstein is where it's at for affordable dampers. Rancho are alright but kind of crappy. They have 1985 valving in them.
