I had a noise in my Turbo Notchback last fall and finally found the way to my toolbox today...
Time for a cam and a freshen up :)

DOH! At least you got to it before it lunched your entire engine... Hope everything else in there is OK...

OUCH! Are you going to tear down the whole engine to make sure crap didn't get through? Cut your oil filter open to see how much gunk is in it?

Never known anyone to wipe a roller before...good job! :(

Yes, I am definately going to go through the whole motor, it has 4 hard years on it and could use a freshening! Everything else looks OK, I heard the noise right away after a run and stopped running it.

Nasty. I would definitely cut open the filter, drop the pan, clean out anything you can. That's a lot of metal that went somewhere...

Wowzers!

I think that lobe had around 300 lift.

I lost a lobe on the 69 Vette when I rebuilt the engine after 30 miles on a fresh rebuild. I pulled the engine back out and tore it down. I took the engine in and had the cam bearings removed and then hot tanked to remove all the metal from the oil passages.
