Had a guy in a Crossfire messing with me on Hwy 16 yesterday. Too much traffic to see how we matched up. What are there cars? Sports cars...mini muscle cars...or what? They ARE kinda cool looking...but I don't know anything else about them. Anyone here own one?

forest

I drove one, it's ok if you dont want a fast car. It's something like 65% benz parts and handles good because of it. Too bad its only like 200 hp

A friend of mine has an SRT one. He loves it. It's a shame they are automatic.

the srt versions have the 3.2L supercharged mercedes engine!! 330hp and it runs a low 13 stock, make a call to renntech and the car is very quick with not a lot of work, still sucks about being only auot though

Yeah, I don't know everybody's saying they're slow.

I was at the drag strip one day and a guy who had just bought the car (convertible), didn't have any mods and had never raced in his life was there with his buddy in a C5 coupe that had like an exhaust. The Corvette guy was talking about how he was going to spank the guy with the Crossfire and blah blah blah. The Crossfire embarrassed the Vette every time they lined up.

The guy in the vette clearly was a poor driver then.

People love or hate the look, I like SL500 Benz so I dig it.

Anybody who says they are slow has never driven them.
A tick over #3000 and 330HP they run low13's stock, this
is a v-6 that would smoke a new Mustang GT stock/stock.

Bone stock Crossfire srt:
http://videos.streetfire.net/video/my-crossfire-srt6-running-a-1336-vs-my-friends-92_62775.htm

Best stock times are 12.8-12.9 followed by more common 13.0-13.4
times.........new Mustang GT's are what low 14's ?

Those are pretty impressive stock numbers. But IMO the things are butt ugly. But I drive a Grand Am...what do I know? lol

Thanks for the discussion on the Crossfire. My Mustang is no where close to it's stock configuration anymore. It LOOKS stock...but it's not. I guess we'll never know how I would match up with that guy unless we meet again. I won't underestimate the Crossfire though...not after some of those numbers.

BTW westybenddyno/forest built my car. Thanks Forest!

The hood on those things is what kills the look. Looks to me like they put a luggage rack on the hood.

Its a Mercedes SLK 100% as far as drivetrain, chassis, etc. with a Karmann made body parts and trim.

nope but ill let dave fill in the details...:D somthing about a certain company not wanting to spend $$$$ on dynoing his car haha :rolf

Ford has retro styling with the Mustang, Chevy with the HHR, VW with the New Beetle, Mopar with a Prowler and PT, but this reminds me of a retro AMC Marlin. Since MOPAR owns the name AMC and Jeep, I guess it's appropriate.

I guess this needs a little explanation. It’s true that I have major problems with Big 3 Performance. It’s also true that Forest worked for them and built my car.

I’ll tell everyone the same thing that I told Forest. I don’t blame Forest for all the problems that I have had with Big 3 Performance. There are not only quality customer service issues where Big 3 fails. They have some very serious ethical issues as well. Forest will tell you; he left Big 3 because he could no longer stomach the things that Eddy and his son Tony were trying to make him do. They even tried to bring me into one of their scams.

After I had become frustrated with Tony; asking him several times to get a dyno-tune, I discovered Marv. Marv tuned my car and I couldn’t be more pleased with his work and the good character of the man himself. I guess Tony did me a big favor. I would recommend Marv to any Mustang owner out there. The man does pure magic. The traits that Marv has are totally absent in Tony and Eddy of Big 3.

One day I received an email from Tony inviting me back to Big 3 with a surprise offer of some kind. Well I was too curious to turn him down. So I went and what a mistake. Here’s the offer; I would have my car pictured in 5.0 Mustang Magazine if…

1. I let Big 3 dyno-tune over Marv’s tune and let them advertise that fact
2. They would tweak the RWHP to over 500 rwhp.
3. I would have to drive my car all the way to Detroit for the photo shoot.

As Tony and Eddy (the dynamic duo) were proposing this offer to me, I was watching Forest. He had not added to the conversation at all. And he clearly looked like he did not want to be there. He looked uncomfortable to say the least. I was so glad to hear later that Forest finally left those guys to start a business of his own. I have no problem with Forest. I believe he is an honest guy with a talent for building cars. That’s why I’ happy to tell people that Forest built my car.

Well…to get back to Big 3…I did not accept their offer. I was especially insulted because they wanted me to help them trash Marv. I guess if you can’t beat them…make lies up about them. I wouldn’t do it! I already became fond of Marv and what they were asking me to do was against my principles. Mechanical things that go wrong can be fixed, but reputations are not that easy to repair. Honesty and character are especially important to me. Eddy and Tony of Big 3 have neither. I encourage anyone who might be thinking of taking their car to Big 3…to run the other way…FAST!

So…if I would have helped Big 3 to destroy Marv’s reputation…my car would be pictured in 5.0 Magazine (April 2008) along with the other car that Forest built. There’s no way that I could do such a low-life thing to anyone for the thrill of having my car in a magazine.

crossfires are gay. plus they are made by MOPAR so the transmissions are junk

And the 215hp examples aren't terribly slow either...they certainly go stronger than you'd expect for being 215hp at least. 6 speed examples of the 215hp car will routinely break into the high 14's, then 5 speed auto's will generally run low 15's...should get a definite time on that this summer as I'll probably take my Dad's crossifire convertible to the track for some actual numbers.

My Dad purchased one as the prices were pretty good on these things. It came down to a Convertible with the 215hp engine or the coupe in an SRT-6 for roughly a grand or two more. He went with the convertable since that's what my Mom would prefer...really a very nice, fun to drive car though.

You can spot SRT-6's by the giant spoiler on them...if you see one with a retractable wing, it's a non-SRT then.

more like 98% benz. the 2% makes the chrysler badges, interior, ect.
