It wouldnt have been free if it was in great shape. :rolf It's a Baretta 17ft Supersport 185 with a Volvo 275. Some serious cracks, as you can see in the pictures. It's a fiberglass hull. I'm told the motor runs, but I havent fired it up. Question is, anyone think these cracks are fixable, or just scrap it? I don't mind a project, but don't want to get into something that's not worth fixing. I'm sure the rest of the boat will clean up nicely. If it is fixable, how would one go about doing this?

I'm not an expert on fiberglass boats so I need to ask the question, is that even worth fixing...???

Looks like its in pretty rough shape. I believe its fixable but not worth fixing. You might end up spending more. If the motor runs sell that thing on ebay and maybe the trailer and scrap the boat.

Pull the motor and sell the trailer.
Burn the rest.

That motor ought to be worth AT LEAST a few hundred. I would say clean up and paint the trailer. Pull the motor, clean it up and throw it on craigslist or something.

^^ agree with most of them. i can't tell in the pics, is there Transom damage? if so, it's completly worthless.

Sell the trailer, trash the boat. Looks like the Transom is ripped clean out, may not even be repairable.

If the lower unti is any good, it may be worth some coin. Volvo penta outdrives are great units. But I would be willing to be that has cracks too. I doubt it was winterized.

I think you would be wasting your time on this one.

Well, I posted pictures on some boat forums and everyone is telling me it's fixable. Not too sure I want to take on the project right now, I may end up pulling the motor out and selling it along with the fish finder, trailer, glass, seats, trim, etc. I think it would be a nice boat (my house is 1 block from the ocean) and is exactly what I would want, if I was going to buy a boat. I just don't need another hobby/project right now. :crying I would however like to find a hull from a kit boat and just transfer everything over. Brand new, solid hull and just transfer everything over. Anyone know if there is such a thing as a "kit boat"? I gooled, but can't find much.

that thing looks a little small for being on the ocean?

I would not put anything smaller than a 20' on the ocean. I know you can, and I know a lot of people do, but I would rather have a boat that can handle the ocean rather than have the ocean handle the boat.

The exhaust manifolds, Lower unit, and trailer are about all that are worth anything. I wouldn't even bother taking the motor out.

If you ever had a car "nickel and dime you to death" this boat will be 100X that.
And who wants to be stranded in water even if only for a short time to wait for the CG ?

As it sits you would be lucky to get $500 from anyone for the piece parts, IMO of course.
