Since I got the pony out, and was itching to test the new rig I made...I did :)

Only had time for attaching it to the rear window. Will work on more later and in better locations, but she's gonna work quite well :banana1: Not the best pics, I know, but I was concentrating more on how the rig behaved.

here's it mounted to my Mountaineer. Made some changes to it to be able to break it in two, and added bracing.

It looks like some .070"-.080" tube with some exhaust clamps holding raised flooring suction cups to it... am I right? Pretty slick. One of those suction cups is worth more than my "best" camera.

It's not so much the cost, it's liability. I don't need someone borrowing it, destroying a part of their car or their camera and coming after me. But the tripod head on it and other parts are worth a decent chunk.

Additionally, I'd like to get my photography even more off the ground than it is. Hard to do that when you loan out equipment.

I'm throwing together some packages for people who'd want shoots with/without the rig.

Try .125" wall pipe :) .07-.08 wouldn't have the strength, especially once holes are in it and clamps start squeezing to hold components on. Still light enough, but with a grand of camera hanging out there on the end, better to have it a bit more sturdy.

Anyways, thanks for all the comments guys. Once I get it figured out I can open it up for anyone who wants a decent shoot of their car. You can see some crap at my site (http://www.isaacolson.com/photography) - under wistangs calendar shoots you'll find the most relative car pics. Granted, for use of the rig on your car, there will be a nice waiver of liability to sign.:durr

You can buy similar rigs online. Here is one place that I found just googling it.
