I’m shopping around for a generator. I have a two car garage that has no electricity so need to have a generator so I have use simple tools such as a hand drill, shop vac, hand sander, dremel and maybe a portalable light. How many watts should I go with to use one tool at a time with one portable light?

Thanks,

Josh

5,000 Watts will be plenty, buy a Briggs portable gen too BTW.

I've got a 3500 watt in my trailer, runs the A/C and everything else in my trailer without a problem.

With a 5K watt unit you could even power a fair amount of stuff too in your house during a power outtage if needed.

I would suggest getting one that has some kind of noise reduction option so you don't have to hear it chuging away all the time.

The honda ones are nice, quiet and electric start.

My 3500 powers my house with no real problems, we just don't run everything at once. I would get a 5000 or 6500 watt if I needed to buy a new one, back when I bought mine the bigger ones were reallllllly expensive.....

Mines a Northern brand with a Honda motor.......

Our 5000-5500K units with the Brigg's 10HP (15 C.I.) engines are comparable to a honda for noise. Your gonna spend about 5-600 typically for this size of unit, double that for a honda brand unit.

We also have 45Kw home stand by generators you can put on a trailer LOL!! Powered by a NG or LP Vortec 350, which will power yours and your neighbors house hahahaha

Because it's a rental and I don't own it.

I have the same problem. I'm looking for a 4k watt so I can run a small electric heater as well. Watch ebay.
