So I sold a drum kit of mine to a guy in Houston. Long story short, UPS store repacked 1 drum that was damaged and 1 drum was lost in a fire at a N IL. docking station:( What luck. So, this guy is first on my ass to buy back all of the drums and give him his $2400 back.. I told him to put them on ebay...they are now his. So I told him they were insured for $500 per drum. I sold 6 drums for $2400 + he kicked in 100 for shipping. Anyway, he wants the whole $500 back per drum. He e-mailed me the other day telling me to immediately send him $1000. Now I want to wait for the UPS refunds as I know I am getting the $1000 from them. The question is should I give him his $800, which is what he paid and tell him to go screw off or the $1000?

Tell him it will be handled however UPS sees fit to handle it. STFU, I'll get back to you when I hear something.

He only paid for $800, you paid to insure them for $500, he's not entitled to what you estimated them at.
You could have told UPS they were $1,000 each, does that mean he gets $2k? fock no.

Holy shit Dude!! That Fire was on OUR trailer in Elm Grove, and It came off the twilight shift.. Apparently the Trailer was smoking when it arrived in Addison, and the driver opened the door and WOOSH fire ignited. Some kind of ORM-D non-hazmat package ( a battery I think? ) started the fire.

Really unfortunate that you were effected by it! We follow so many ***** procedures to prevent this kind of stuff.

^ Elm Grove is always blowing shit up, starting fires, working when the powers out.

I say tell the guy to send them back to you, he pays for shipping them to him and back to you and you refund what he paid for the items alone.

That's what insurance is for. The damage is covered under insurance, so that's where his refund will come from. It's not the sellers fault the drums were damaged in shipping, it's UPS'. If the buyer said "I want $500/drum", then UPS should give him $500/drum. If the buyer said nothing about insurance and the seller still insured them, the buyer gets back what he paid and the seller gets some $ in his pocket. If the buyer had not been a douche bag, I would have given him the $500.

$800 plus pro-rated shipping charges maybe...

I already think you're doing way more than is required of you. Once you dropped those things off, it became the problem of UPS and the buyer. The two of them should have to hammer out the claim now IMO.

I'd tell him to go fuk himself with that piss poor attitude.

It's ebay... he should be happy he's getting $800. And tell him that he needs to wait.

Joe, $800 and not a $ more. it wasnt your fault and you did insure them so the rest is yours. personally, I would have insured them for way more than the value just in case shit like this happens but oh well at least you arent on the hook now for them.
