McDonalds All American Games

Put my media pass into the McDonald's All-American games this week to work. Access to closed practices, skill's contests, games, etc. Being able to rub elbows and chat with these people before they go off and get all sorts of famous has been a treat.

Last night was the skill's contests at the US Cellular Arena. Everyone comes for the slam dunk contest, of course, but the three-point and team ball contests run first. Dr J, Ne Yo and Gilbert Brown were the bigger name judges.

I will be photographing the games tomorrow night and they will air the skills contest along with them starting at 6pm CST on ESPNU, look for my big bald head out there trying not to get my equipment trampled. Even better, come out, these kids are amazing to watch.

great shots. What was your camera set-up? Did you use the in-house (ceiling) strobes and trigger them with a wireless remote?? Or just bump the ISO way up? There doesn't appear to be much noise present so I'd say you had some flashes right? Awesome WB control also

That was the 1Ds. I had the 20D there hooked up to another lens but I haven't downloaded those pics yet.

All those shots were at either ISO640 or 800, mostly 640 though with NO strobes, just in house lighting. Having the overhead strobes would have been nice to kick my shutter speed up but I made out alright sticking around 1/200 to 1/250.
