I have a friend in Michigan (right about 400 miles from Mequon) with a 305 Cutlass for sale. It's got a bit of rust, three speed auto, carbed. It's actually a decent car though, I've ridden in it and it's fairly comfy, heat works and all that jazz. Has decent get up and go for a 305 too.

I'll have to check with him on the price but I think he wants under a grand for it. By time you drive there, get it and drive it back you'd still be under $1500.

There was a really clean 87' Monte LS on Craigslist a week ago or so, located in Brookfield. 70k mile car, t-tops, was primered for paint but never finished, apparently. I was half tempted to go look at it.

2k should get you a pretty solid plain jane g-body, an MCSS in that price range would be a roller or a beater.
