So, after all this snow, I'm betting that Spring Jefferson car show/swap meet is going to be like wading through a swamp of mud.....I'm going anyway, but hell, break out the galoshes.....I heard that this Spring's "featured car" is Camaros, all generations. I wouldn't miss that for anything! :banana1:

Good eye. I didn't notice that one. Waukesha was kind of a light attendance show compared to Jefferson and Elkhorn.

I haven't been to Jefferson in years, but have they empasized the "show" part more now? I seem to remember the car corral having more cars then the show car area back when I used to go. IS the car corral still getting top dollar for cars? I remember it being overpriced.

Thats the best part, looking at used crap people are asking for
MORE than it was new!

New Plastic racing bucket from Jegs $40
Your very used cost at Jefferson.....$50!

Convu Pro aluminum rims, dirty and used $150 each
Your new cost shipped from Summit? $110!

Snap On 1/2 drive OEXL Ratchet, $100 used
at Jefferson or $89 off the Sanp on truck!

Where else can you buy the SHAMWOW or Mexichrome
Polish? How about "the clapper"....yup only at Jefferson!

LMAO, that bout sums it up!

But last year or 2 years ago there was a Datsun 240Z forsale there for a good price and i have been kickin my self in the ass since then that i didn't get it.

Was it the Datsun a white one at the entrance, I remember that one it was CLEAN! But I had 4 other ones at the time and I had no room for, the guy wanted $1400.00 for it. AT the end of that day I had him down to $1000.00 and he was willing to deliver it to my house. But I kept telling him I HAD NO ROOM!

A little trick we like ta do to make the spring Jefferson
(very cold usualy) is mix 50% Starbucks to %50 Kahlua.
Makes for a great eye opener and the silly prices seem
all the more funny.

The guy who has all those old intake manifolds on display
is worth the trip for me, cool old school stuff.

$4 beers always taste better than the $4 a 12pack at home.

3yrs ago the 6' tall malt shop girl maniquin, looked like a
pinup girl for $500 would have been a steal.

Counting Commonaro parts for sale keeps a guy busy.

Finding the rare and elusive girl who is hauling parts for
her bib wearing, toothless boyfreind is a treat to see.
Makes a guy wonder where he can get a girl like that!

nismodave
03-23-2008, 11:24 PM
I remember when they used to have car parts.

I havent been there in 10 plus years, but even then it was becoming mostly die cast models and 100000 watt amps.

lots of polished turds at Junkerson. Great place to get rid of crap that noone else wants, though! Ive never had luck selling any cars there, but it seems the sub $4000 cars bring top dollar there. I like Jefferson, the experience of going is always weird and kinda funny-cool. I will not be buying any parts for my Camaro there, though. Yes there is a lot of crap there, but you can find good buys from time to time.

Last year I found mint complete doors for my truck for $40 each and mint front fenders for my truck for $25 each.

I got all the body parts to rebuild my truck and I got some good prices.

But yes there is a lot of junk, but still worth the trip.

jbiscuit
04-22-2008, 11:53 AM
sure there is lots of junk but if you are patient and willing to look, you can find bargains....I found the upper control arms I needed with the hard-to-find cross shafts for $20 for the pair. A set of MINT 64 headlight trim rings for $5 (way nicer than mine on the car)....

well last wensday I drove through jefferson on the way to madison, partially to see if the drive in theater was still open, and partially to go down memory lane from when I lived there. If you are planning on taking hwy 18 in to town, dont, as it is all tore up. If the dirt on 18 is any indication on how the fair grounds are going to be, it isnt that bad. In years past I have been on both ends of the coin, as a seller as well as a buyer...When I was fixing up the 93 vert that I had, I found some good deals on body parts, and when I was selling I got rid of most of the stuff that we were trying to get rid of....covered the cost of the spot, the food, and the alcohol (they never check the venders on the way in lol). Hell we got rid of a blown aod, a hollowed out catted h pipe, a 91 escort gt with a bad engine, a set of subs, 2 amps, as well as some other junk, but no one wanted the nearly mint 94 cavalier z-24 with low mileage and a stereo system for 3k. Oh well that car lasted another 2 months before the timing chain went on the freeway lol. It is hit or miss....I might go there this year, depends on how the girlfriend and I are felling on that morning.

Some things never change.....

no doubt about it. Jefferson has some of the most inflated prices on the planet for classic cars. I SHOCKED at how much better the prices were for cars at Hershey, PA 2 years ago when I was there.

EXAMPLE:
Decently clean, driver-quality 1968-69 Camaro....some nicks and hazy trim, interior pretty nice etc etc. Overall pretty nice car

Hershey going rate: about $20K
Jefferson: $28K

There was actually some BARGAINS at Hershey...
