OK, it isn't a car, but it is about as damn expensive and just an amazing camera.

16.7 megapixles? that thing is probably worth more than my truck, my car, my other car my tools and my house combined.

I could not wait until tomorrow so I went and picked up that camera this afternoon. What a beast but wow, is it different to control than the 20/30/40 series. Same basic functions but they are placed way different and menu navigation is different. It basically MAKES you think about what you are changing. Changing ISO is a two handed affair now.

AF is way fast and accurate, almost too fast until I get the hang of it and sensitive as hell. Low f stop shots will find another focus point quicker than you can say "dammit".

With this being full frame a 50mm lense is really a 50mm lense and not an 80mm (1.6 crop) like in the 20/30/40/d series. That will make shots with the 24-70 much nicer on the short end.

I will throw a full comparison of the "D" series and the new 1Ds up sometime early next week. Meanwhile, here are a few out of the box, unadulterated (except for resizing) JPGs from it. Of course they are of my favorite subject. All at iso400 (I was curious)

Wow, pictures look great. I can't believe the colors turned out like that without editing.

A 20D that I am keeping a a backup body for events. It has a green zone on it so if she must my wife could actually use it as well.

Thats basically what rolled through my head as well. AWB seems to have it's shit figured out on this camera. Those shots were straight to JPG as well, no RAW conversion to f with the colors.
