I know we have discussed pizza joints before so now how about frozen pizzas? Whic ones do you swear by and which ones to you despise?

I personally like Red Baron and I always HATED Trade Winds when it use to be around. That shit was nasty!!!

Any comments?

I rarely bother with frozen pizzas anymore since they've all gotten pretty much terrible. Now that you can get a Papa Murphy's for a few bucks more it's worth it over frozen.

But if I do it's Jacks when they are on sale for like 5 for $10.

Jacks. Just had one tonight actually.

Jack's Are Great. Best combo of price and product.
Tombstone. A wee bit better than jacks, but costs more too.

Home Run pizzas taste kinda "yeasty"
Palermos...since when does a tortilla count as pizza crust?!?
Orv's...ever hear of sauce?
Red Baron...good, but spicy.
Totino's...giant box, little pizza (f*ckers)

Tombstone is a "staple" for me...

I believe they also have a premium brand, rising crust pizza (name escapes me now though)...but they have a Buffalo chicken and blue-cheese pizza that is to die for (as far as frozen pizza goes)

None of that shit belongs on a pizza... except mozz. GTFO yuppie :goof

srsly though, take those toppings and cook them on the stove without a pizza crust under it, it'll be 1,000,000x better.

*cracks knuckles*

All around best frozen pizza for the money - is Jack's.
I dunno what Kraft has done, but they somehow have legally found a way to lace it with crack.
--------------------

*Premium Pizza*

Palermo's Primo Thin - 9/10 - Surprisingly, one of the bargain pizzas, is my favorite premium pizza. The margherita version is just

Home Run Inn - 7/10 - but for the price it's not worth it, buy only on sale.

Connie's - 8/10 - A step above HRI, but you can't find the Pepperoni version anywhere really, wtf... Pick N' Save does not stock this. I've only found it at Sentry, and a Piggly Wiggly.

DiGiorno's - 7.5/10 - Cheese tastes different compared to others for some reason, still good though.

Amy's - 8.5/10 - I've only had this once, because you can't find a pepperoni/black olive pizza without everything under the sun on it. It was expensive as hell for a small pizza, but goddamn was it good. I think it's in the organic section.

--------------------
*Median level pizza*
- Tombstone - I used to love it, but never really buy it now. If I do, it's the thin crust plain cheese, and I'll throw my own toppings on it.

- Red Baron - Too buttery/greasy taste, and I hate them for discontinuing their pepperoni/mushroom pizza... bastards. Will not buy as long as Jack's is in business.

--------------------
Bottom barrell pizza, pretty much only good when drunk.
- Totino's
- Tony's
- Tradewinds
- Palermo's
- Erv's
- Orv's
- Urge
- Roundy's
-etc.etc.

Would love to find a DeRango's frozen... the 'live' version is pretty damn good.

Jacks FTW also. Stock thin crust with whatever toppings. The rising crust surprised the hell out of me as far as flavor, etc for the price.

No one touched on Freschetta I don't think, green box (are they still around) Same price as Digiorno. I think it's a step above Digiorno as far as flavor

I've always liked this pizza they have at some bars. I think it's called Emil's. Very good. Wondering why frozen pizza always tasted good when served at a bar, I figured it must be the little pizza ovens they use. I bought a "new-in-the-box" oven at a rummage sale for ten bucks (the parents were not around and I talked the little 16 year old kid into it) Frozen pizzas work best in these kinds of ovens. It's funny how people here talk of the differences in Jack's and Tombstone pizzas. Aren't they all made by Kraft? They do seem different.

shit, i'll have to show you fools. not a bad breakdown though Jeff
--------------------
*Premium Pizza* (comes in a box)

Palermo's Primo Thin - fantastic, Chicken ceasar, greek, Margahrita

Palermos Rustico- POS pizza, the crust is like a huge piece of bread. awful pizza, and SUPER overpriced

Home Run Inn - thick crust, best crust around. freshest you'll find, but overpriced.

Connie's - About the same as HRI, and no, we don't carry the Pepperoni, talk to Roundy's corporate office.

DiGiorno's - average. their veggie pizzas are their best kick.

Amy's -Organic pizza, very overpriced.

Red Baron- good pizza, the Garlic Bread crust is fantastic. a bit heartburnish

Freschetta- decent, trys to make its name on the crust, but its average. they do have pepperoni in chunks, not circles, which i like though.

Bernatellos- goes on BOGO often. not a bad filler pizza. its a Thin crust in the box. doesn't TOUCH Primo Thin

California Pizza Kitchen- obviously from CPK. never been a fan personally. high price.

Roundy's Selects- good pizza, comparable to Connies. good price.

Borbellos- imitation of Red Baron/Digiorno/Connies, etc. on sale often. cheap
--------------------
All the rest. (regular plastic wrapped pizza) i'll try to do highest price to lowest. although up top they are all about the same.

Palermos- gone down the tubes in quality, but a decent pizza. on sale often. sauce leaves a LOT to be desired.

Tombstone- Formerly of wisconsin, price is higher without getting a great product. the crust is great though. great example of the average pizza

Orvs- suprisingly above average pizza despite goofy package. price is a tad high, but on sale a ton. toppings are not fresh at all.

Jacks- best overall. very thin crust, but same stuff as Tombstone, but cheaper.

Tonys- terrible. same price(ish) as Jacks, but half the quality. give me gut rot everytime.

Roma- the bottom of the barrel. these bitches are like 1.50. you get what you pay for, but i somehow don't mind them.

Roundys just came out with a new thin crust pizza and its about the level of jacks. it will be priced lower though. good for us. it just got shipped to stores lately.

btw, i'm a Dairy/Frozen manager, i've eaten every single one of these. my choices are
Palermos Primo Thin(chicken cesar mostly)
Red Baron
Jacks

i don't really buy much else unless they're on super sale.

company breakdown:
Kraft= Jacks, Tombstone, Digiorno
Red Baron= Red Baron, Tonys, Freschetta
HRI/Power Play= HRI, Borbellos
Orvs= Orvs, Roundys Selects, Bernatellos, Connies, Roma

FourEyedFord
