I am looking to get estimates on having a tree removed from my front yard. I know there's one or two guys here who do it, but couldnt find the thread. If you or anyone you know, is looking to do a cash job...shoot me a PM. The tree is pretty big and it's close to the house so I will only go with a licensed and insured pro.
thanks,
Jason

If you have a Chain saw, i have the truck. After enough beers i think we can pull it down without a problem!

:rolf you sound like my buddy who was out here tonight to look at the tree. "dude, i got a whoopass chainsaw, i'm pretty sure I can notch it and have her fall right between those two other trees. Although, it will probably bust up your driveway when it falls, but that's not a problem, I also do concrete work."

Get a hold of UnderPSI. He has a relative (insured, etc.) that will give you an estimate that will make you not want to even bother doing it yourself.

What kind of tree is it? I usualy climb up them with a sawzal and cut it down in small pieces. That way you can throw them down and not have to worry about anything falling, then just rip the stump out with the truck. Done several of them that way now and never had any problems.

If your interested shoot me a PM

the base of the tree is about as big around as a kitchen table, i dont think it's getting yanked out of the ground with a truck

You would be suprised. If you dig around it and cut the roots with an axe, you leave about 8-10' of the tree up, hook the strap to the top, then take about a 5 foot hunk of the tree that you cut off and prop it up against the tree. Works like a big tider todder, the weight and power of the truck will pull down on the tree and because its braced up with the short piece the leverage will rip the tree up out of the ground. The last one we did was about 18" diameter at the base and it came right out.

There is no way you could pull over a living tree that big with a truck. You would need some serious equipment to do that.

Nope, not unless it was planted in sand

Thats why I said you dig around and cut the roots, and I guess with a tree that big you might hook the strap higher to get more leverage. Or screw it, cut it off at about 4' and make it a built in patio table.
