Soooooo, Lit got his car back today after his motor let go a year ago.. Its now freshly rebuilt, forged and a new blower added..

Well, we got it back today and were out breaking in the motor and clutch.. But, as we were driving we heard something metal fall from under the car and start to bounce on the street.. :omg

Well, it was the water pump pulley.. Soooo back to the shop she went.. :nutkick

And to really top it off I was driving when the part let go..:headbang

We just so had the camera with us too..

Marv said its not 'reallly' a big deal.. Nothing is broken but the pulley it self.. However, to replace the pump there is quite a bit of labor so its just more money down the drain..

An electric water pump with a pulley?
Help me out with this.
Maybe I am missing something, but I have had several Meziere pumps and none of them had a pulley.
The point of an electric water pump is to eliminate the pulley and reduce draw on the motor.
:confused

it acts as a idler pulley is all so the belt length is the same or similar

Damn, that sucks. Engine bay looks real nice though. My buddy has a similar '94 GT vert, same Laser Red and tan top.

I'm by no means smart when it comes to cars and shouldn't really be chaning my own oil but I was thinking the same thing.. The pulley is there because of the designed route the belt has to travel..

I would definitely call Mezeire, that is a manufacturing defect. They might hook you up with a new one just so they can see this one. That part of the pump should last forever. The pump seals on the other hand, are something like 1000hrs.

Called Meziere and they said to ship it back to them. They said there is a born on date stamped inside the pump or something. If it's less then 2 yrs old then they will warranty it. If it's older then that they said they would let me know. He asked if the car was supercharged and said he isnt' surprised with the added tension. I've looked at different sites selling the pump and non of them say not designed to work w/ superchargers and they all say that it's made for high horsepower vehicles. So we'll see.
