Looking for some advice from the photo buffs on the site. Want to purchase a camera to slip into my pocket for when I go to car shows, ect. this summer. I have a full size Nikon 5600 that I like very much, but it's a bit cumbersome. Any recommendations appreciated!

Pick up a Canon SD750 for under $200 and call it a day.

nikon coolpix cameras are good starter cameras...... good if you get confused easily.

For the average point and shoot user the Nikon Coolpix series are perfect...!!! I have an older version (2.0mp) and never had a problem other than needing to get new batteries. It takes good pictures and I'm sure the newer ones are even better, I'll most likely be looking for a new one real soon.....

If your looking for a nice small camera that takes pretty damn good pics look into the Casio Exlim series. I have had one for a couple years now and love it. Small, lightweight, takes video, 3x optical zoom, so easy to use my mother ended up buying one.

I am also looking for a cheap ($200 or less) but decent pocket digital camera. The Exilim and SD750 both sound good so far. What type of digital videos do they take? 640x480 MPG files? What FPS? Anything that produces .MOV I won't buy - I absolutely HATE QuickTime. Thanks for the help!

IMO Anything Sony as long as it's got rechargable batteries... But then again, I've had great luck with 'em, and they've been nothing but durable...

I was looking for one a while ago and did some research. www.cnet.com had the Sony Cybershot (ultra compact) cameras rated pretty high but you probably have to buy a sony memory card.

Canon has some of the best compact cameras according to cnet.

I'd look at this one. free shipping

The only issue I have found with a couple of digital Sony cameras was that they were slow in taking the picture, so they didn't work well when trying to take a picture of a car on a track unless you timed it right. But if you are taking pictures of girls, I mean cars, at a car show, you should be fine.

You might have a hard time finding the S600 I mentioned above but it takes MPEG-4, VGA(640×480 pixels), 30 frames/second high quality movies. I think most of the Exilim series takes that type of video.

Depends on the camera, and how you have it setup... My DSC-N2 takes awesome moving pictures... :thumbsup
