I work for Quad. I cannot provide you any information about anyone working there or not. That must be done through the human resource department. You can call the main phone number and ask to speak with them. That number is 414) 566-6000

When I worked there (late 80's to 91) I made more than any of my friends and had my own cubicle towards the end, not bad for 16-20. I stupidly quit to do something I thought I'd like more. I was wrong:rolf

yeah well for the people just starting now that are on the floor, like in the finishing department, those guys take the grunt of it.

as a 16 year vet in the finishing department at quad, anyone who b1tches about how hard the work is or how they treat their employees- they're either lazy and/or stupid. With all the automation we've adopted to help with the physical strain of doing the repetative work, there's very few instances when someone actually busts their ass. And if someone feels like they're being 'raped' because of the low wages....they shoulda payed more attention in school!

I couldn't agree with you more.

I think the low wages are to weed out the bad employees all the people that work there now are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. I worked there for 10 years and I started as a co-op student making 6.50 an hour. Now I have applied for multiple jobs none of them wanted to match what quad is paying me for not having a degree and Quad also pays for my schooling. And I love the three weeks of vacation I get.

88Nightmare

yeah cuz everything in quad is automated, which is why on say a multi-mailer the pocket feeders are running back and forth with bundles of magazines trying to keep the pockets full so the machine doesn't shut down and to keep the machine operator from shitting a brick. The ONLY good thing I saw at Quad was they are a stable well established company, and the benefits kicked ass. Thats it.

And you want to talk about vacation.... job im working at now gives 90 hours of vacation time after your first 365 days of employment. Since I work 3 twelve hour shifts in a week, you can imagine 90 hours will go pretty far. Like two and a half weeks. After 1 year..... hmmm, not bad.

Oh yes and PS any decent established company would pay for your education so long as its related to the job you are performing ;)

That's a pretty hard benefit to find these days. Most companies around my area want you to get further education on your own, and then they'll "consider" reimbursing your costs. This I've heard from more than I care to think about "well established" places.

Employment is not what it was 10-15 years ago.

my employer currently has advertisements posted up on bulletin boards for college bound kids looking for more classes. they are offering to pay for certain ones

you have to look at the benefits you get along with the pay. UPS pays 9 an hour, however you get paid holidays, free health insurance, and some hubs give tuition reimbursment. quad is a great place to work, just cant be lazy, if you dont like working hard, get an education and apply yourself.

my employer offers paid holidays, health insurance for one person is $7.50 a week and its decent coverage, 401k, profit sharing, the works. Plus no shift is mandatory 5 days a week :thumbsup

I know from experience that UPS rarely follows through with their tuition reimbrsement program. They tell you how to set it up when you begin class, then nce you send in your grades they claim you filled out the paper work wrong and your SOL. That and they dont give a damn about anyones health and you have to be part time for 7 plus years before being offered a chance at a full time position.

Quad has funky hours and 9 bucks an hour is peanuts imo

I've also been at Quad 10 years now (all finishing) and really can't complain about anything. As far as the schedule, if you don't like it, don't apply. I personally like having 4 days off a week :D I don't know what they are starting out now as far as wages, but I know the benifits more then make up for it. I've never paid more then $3 for a prescription and never more then a $10 co-pay. EVERYTHING else Quad picks up. Even if they send you to a specialist, Quad will pay 80% or 90% depending on where you go. Like any job in the world, anyone can find stuff they won't like. I'm glad those people choose to go somewhere else so I don't have to deal with them when they let the pockets run dry! :goof

NO PAPER CUTS!!!

dude from pocket feeding all day, id go home with some of the worst blistered, dried out, paper cutted up hands/fingers I ever had in my life. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem working and getting dirty to make my money, but god damn did that shit hurt. Tryin to yank those bundle ties off to feed them into pockets on a multi-mailer for 12 hours 3 or 4 days a week, holy crap. and tryin to pocket feed with gloves sucks because then you lose that fine touch with bare skin

I'm pretty happy with my job at QG. Any job is going to have parts of it that suck but the best move I ever made was coming back to Quad. One of the nice things about it is that the people who DO work hard get taken care of in the long run. The average wage might have been 2% but it wasn't 2% across the board... if you worked hard you could get more, if you are a crappy employee you got less (some guys got nothing).

5 years (7 now) in I have as much vacation as my dad who has been with his company for 15 years, and pay significantly less than he does for healthcare. I think Quad has contributed more to my 401k than his job has to his as well (he didn't even HAVE a 401k until a couple years ago).

All I can say to the thread reviver is that if you don't like Quad, go somewhere else. We'll be glad to see you go. I'd rather work with loyal employees who give a shit than lazy fucks who are only after a check. There's a reason why I have 7 years in, and several of my coworkers have over 15. If you're a good worker Quad will take care of you in the long run.

I am guessing Scotty is from world color. Pretty much majority of people from there are disgruntaled about the transition.

Im doing alright I have gotten a raise almost every year but one. This year I got 4 weeks of vacation and got moved to salary so with the holidays that fall on the weekends I get like 5 weeks of vacation.

I wish they'd go back to 2 raises per year though, that was nice. My first 3 years at Quad were like that, I was up almost $3 from starting wage when I left. The past 4 years haven't been nearly as good for my pocket (it's been a shitty 4 years for the company though). I'll be glad when the transition is done, not because I'm worried about my job, but because the good raises and profit sharing will come back.

I don't really care what people think if its 3yrs old. The point is that this company bought this company and after all we have been through we still get the shaft. Have we not had enough? Don't we deserve something from this company to make us feel welcome or is it well your WQ and we don't have to give you anything. Oh and we will close most of your company so this SThole can stay open. Maybe you people should thank your lucky stars we helped you out before you went out of business.

I worked at Quad for 2 years and I miss the hell out of it. If they offered me my job back after these many years I would have to give it a very hard thought. My first day was on the end of the line of a very fast binder. (Sussex) It kicked my 18 year old ass. The second day I was ready....... After a few months I taunted/harrassed the operators to bump up the speed. I loved doing "HIGH RUNS" on Arch digest.

If anyone on our crew let a pocket go "dry" I think he/she would have to go to QuadMed. Because the operator would most likely have kicked their ass.

Quad is one of the best places to work for. They take very good care of you.

If they couldn't hack the work load maybe they need to grow a pair.
