I drive my 04 gt all year round, no abs, no traction control. But that guy is bumming with the eagles on there in any more than 1/4" of snow. My blizzaks got me through that 12" of snow we got. The snow was above the door sills even. They're really not that bad if you have the tires for it. Without them i'd be going no where. :)

I would drive a V6 mustang, camaro, or firebird as a winter beater. Who cares?
Hell I'd probably drive a V8 if it had already seen a few winters.

I don't see what the big deal is really. It's not like it's some kind of classic. It's a cookie cutter mustang. Same thing with Camaros and firebirds. There just is not anything special or unique about these cars anymore like thereused to be. Just my 2 cents.

it is because they are not the best suited for the snow....the lack of weight in the rear is the difference maker. Even with trac controll and abs it still is very twichy in even the least bit of snow with those goodyears......

With the Goodyear Eagles they suck in the snow... With a set of anything else (and I mean almost anything... EXCEPT worn out drag radials :rolf) they do just fine... One Winter I had Blizzaks on it, and never had ANY problems at all what so ever... A couple years later I had a set of Kumho Ectsa HP4s on it and no problems with those either...

That's prolly another thing that'd remind me of my 6-banger... The passenger that's in the car the most :rolf
And if you have any susension questions, etc you know where to call... :thumbsup I now have a much better understanding about the suspensions on those cars from that experience... :rolf
I'll just give you a hint right out of the box... Tokico ADJUSTABLE shocks :rolf I didn't figure that one out til I already installed the other ones in the car...

There was only one driveway I had problems with... Once I got almost stuck, but made it out... The other time she needed some pushin... :rolf Funny thing is that my S-10 never got stuck there... Then again the tires on that thing were awesome...
Of course the first time it had 18" Pirelli PZero Rossos on it and it had just snowed in mid march (that sucked alot...)
The second time there was like 4-5" of snow on the ground and gettin up that hill just wasn't happening with my all-seasons...

Nice upgrade. I bought my 01 at the beginning of February in 05 when the weather was unseasonably nice. Of course two weeks after I bought it continued to snow some more. I drove it a few times in the snow with the BFG KDW non-snow & mud rated tires and it wasn't that bad. Especially considering this was my first RWD car I had little to no issues with the snow. There were a couple times I had to make a run a the hill in my works parking lot and I got stuck parking at the bottom of the driveway, but there were no scary moments. You just have to be cautious and drive like a grandma when there's any snow on the ground.

Manual, that was one of the things that I had to have...manual and a v8....plan on taking it to the track to get some base numbers the first weekend of gld....will be happy with low 14's due to stock gearing (3.27) and the extra weight. Wont have to do much to it though to get it to the 13.5 that the 88 hit before I sold it.

It's a real nice car but it's a regular GT Mustang and there's a million of them around. If it was a rarer one like a mach1, cobra, or a fox body and older then I would have to agree that driving it in the snow would be stupid since they're a lot harder to replace.
