before i go freak the **** out in madison heres my problem. In october i got pulled over in dane county. he gave me a verbal warning for speeding and verbal for no front plate. he gave me a $10 seatbelt ticket instead of all the other fines. now, i waited for the court date before sending the $. i sent cash in the envolope to madison in january when it was due. Now i recieved a notice today that my liscnece has been suspended for 2 years! starting febuary 27th due to an unpaid violation of $10 (failular to wear seatbelt). wtf:fire now i know my mistake was not to write a $10 check but i said **** it its $10 and put it in the envolope. i have a number to call what are my odds of getting my liscnese back asap as i have driving JOB!!!!!:flipoff2:

Id say pretty crappy odds. This is WHY you write checks and NEVER mail cash. When you didnt show for court and the fine wasnt paid they can issue a warrant. Apparently they found it more appealing to just take your lisence instead. I would check with the P.D. to make sure there are no warrants for your arrest active so you dont run into a issue with that down the road. Sadly, I think its past the point of an attorney helping you out either.

This is coming from previous experience, mabey things have changed in the past 10 years though, may be as simple as just paying the fine or a little extra.

Holy shit, that's a pretty damn stiff penalty!

My license was restricted for two years, but that was because I got six points in a month. Still got another year or so left.

don't forget the $55 to reinstate your liscense too, now.

Wow, that's one way to pull the punk card on someone who blows off a $10 fine! (not saying that's what you did)

The DMV get worse and worse every single year. Thankfully I havent had any issues lately with anything. When I got my liscense back they mailed it to me.

yeah, sorry to be the nagging guy, but it even says right on the paper they give you with the ticket: DO NOT MAIL CASH. it says it all over the place. if you are snappy about paying the fine, most of the time, they re-instate your liscense. tell them you lost the ticket and forgot. just go to the police station that issued it.

Sending cash in the mail is stupid... A check costs all of what? .10 at the most??

you should have used a check or a money order. most fines even say on it do not send cash. the office worker probably opened up the envelope and saw the cash pocketed it and threw the rest away. now a days you can even pay your fines over the internet.

I don't think there is anything you can do other than pay it again and hope for the best. Which would be a reinstatement fee. I would check to see if there are warrants too as that will ruin your day!

All you do is pay it and take the letter to the DMV along with the "paid" letter. Then you pay to get reinstated, get your picture taken again, and thats it

It'll prolly hike your insurance rates too. I had the same BS happen back in 2003.

Even though I paid the thing instantly, like the same day, it has effected my insurance ever since.

In april is when it "goes off" my record as far as insurance is concerned

so i get my liscense back today. i called told them im 100% sure that i sent that. i even had the due date still in my daily planner and i had wrote out what day i mailed it. (im sometimes over orginized) it was due january 17th and i mailed it january 7th. i told her this and she told me that it was never recieved and blah blah. so i ended up having to pay $15 cuz i did it over the phone to get it back today. i have a verification number that says it was payed in full.
