42 million is a drop in the bucket compared to the $12billion a month we're spending in Iraq
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080309/ap_on_re_mi_ea/iraq_war_costs

Just think how much nicer our stuff, like our roads and bridges and other parts of infrastructure, would be if we spent that money here where it belongs.

China?

China?

ding ding ding! Most people will spend their rebate on products made in China, so it comes back to them, while the US .gov still owes them tons of money from this loan. It's not even a rebate, it's an advance on next years tax returns.

That's okay the joke is on them, cause the US Dollar is worth less then the ink and paper it's printed on now. So lets see them try and collect. Although if Clinton wins the election she can just give them military secrets in return like Bubba did.

42 million $/300 million people = $0.14/person

It isn't that bad IMO

It is too. Its a completely pointless letter. There is no reason at all to send out a letter to tell us that our checks will be mailed soon.

Just Send The Damn Checks!

I agree. If you live under a rock and know nothing about this rebate check that has been in the news for 3 months now, then that's your own fault.

Just think how much money the govt wastes on stupid crap like this.

Everyone's bitching about our big bloated government wasting more of OUR money and running us further into our 9 Trillion Dollar Debt. While the US Dollar hits new lows every day and Crude oil hit $108/bbl yesterday as a direct result of the Dollar crashing.

But what are you gonna do about it? Are you going to vote for the only guy proposing a budget CUT (http://www.ntu.org/main/page.php?PageID=141)? Or are you going to vote for someone who wants up to 300 Billion in additional spending? Wake up!

Unfortunately Ron Paul is no longer a factor. To be honest he never really was, because he's too much of a change at once for the majority of America and he comes off too much like Ross Perot. He continues to say he's not going to run as a independent, and he has no chance at the Republican ticket.

"No longer a factor" in WHO's opinion? We're all free to vote for whoever we want, you can change your mind the day before the election if you like. I'll be voting Ron Paul in November, thats for damn sure. I won't be the only one.

Crude oil hit $110/bbl today, anyone else ready to do something about it?

Karps TA

Are you going to write him in? Cause he won't even be on a ballot to vote for unless he decides to run on an independent ticket. Which he repeatedly has said he will not.

He'll get as many votes as Ralph Nader does every 4 years.

Again I like alot of what he has to say and wants to do. But you have to be realistic. He barely made a ripple in any state over the last couple months. Sure he's raised some cash, but except for the internet nobody even knows who he is. And those who don't know him except for what they've seen on TV think the guy is a bit crazy.

Man I want to see change as much as anyone. But Ron Paul is not the guy that can do it. Atleast not this year. He needs to spend the next 4 years getting his message out there and letting people know who he is.

He continue's to run so as to continue to enjoy the "cult of personality" that has sprung around him.

Sure, he justifies by saying it'll "get out the message", "spread the word", or "continue the revolution", etc, etc, etc...but the reality is, he likes the undying devotion he get's from his followers.

Really, it seems building to be similar to that of cults that sprung around Lyndon LaRouche, Jim Jones, and (now) Putin and more...

Granted, he won his primary to continue to be a US Representative, but for all the noise he was making about being left out of 1(!) debate that he could have aurguably been included in despite his poor poll numbers, he refused to debate his primary opponent for US rep.

Of course, if RP's mission was really as alturistic as many of his followers would have you believe (the use of "followers" and it's implication is wholly intentional), he would have been concerned that the voters in his district would be fully informed and thus be the best equipped electorate. RP Should have acquiesced to the debate demand. Why didn't he? It must be hard to leave the adulation of his followers.
