Well the 305 is out and sitting in the garage waiting for my brother to take it for the Grand Prix were gonna build him.

Tonights progress was removing the chevy frame mounts for the 305. Could they make those things MORE of a pain in the a$$ to remove and install?

So there is tonights installment of "As the engine swap turns" or was it "The young and the engineless", "Days of our engines" maybe?:goof

I think it's time for bed

I'll get in the Olds frame mounts Sat. night or Sunday. Then in goes the engine:3gears: I am gonna try the SBO headers I have on it but if it's too much work to get them to fit, I'll put on some manifolds for now.

Well I finally got the Olds frame pads in last night.:rockwoot:
Next up is the engine install. Not sure when I will have the spare few hours...hopefully very soon.:3gears: :banana :bling

Then we'll see if the 2004r will hold up:nutkick
if I drive it nice;)

Well I put dropped in the BBO friday before i left for up north. The trans mount came apart, I needed new motor mounts and they weren't made right, those along with other problems/stuff to do, conspired to make the engine get "in the car" around 3pm. So it's sitting in the car, no accessories/exhaust and two bellhousing bolts in, BUT it's physically IN the car:goof
Maybe this coming weekend it'll get buttoned up and fired :)

Here's a pic from fri, and no I am not using that 4" diameter air cleaner on the A/C box LOL

Progress, cool :rockwoot: . So how much hp/ft lb.s does that 455 have?

Rocket Power
10-13-2003, 11:48 PM
Well with the headers that I was gonna use in the Vista, Approx. 400hp/ 500 lb/ft tq :3gears: With the crossover manifolds I have to use for the time being considerably less:( :nutkick
If I get time I have a set of SBO/G-body headers I may try to modify:rockwoot: :3gears:

Followed immediately by blowing the 2004r:goof

If the 200-4r blows what are your plans for a tranny? And is there good selection of BBO headers for g-bodies?

Rocket Power

I have a nice somewhat built th350 but... 455+th350+3.73+short tires= Crappy mileage (Probably single digits) With OD I am hoping for 15mpg.

As far as headers for G-body/BBO off the shelf there is only Hooker Supercomps at around $500 and one tube on each side goes around the frame limiting turning:fire

I imagine that mileage wouldn't be too good with a 3 speed  . Might want my old 3.08 rear end. Heck Ill trade ya for that 8.5" since those 3.73's will just be too much for you :-P.

The guy who rebuilt my LS's 200-4r is one of the most reputable 200-4r guys around and hes not *that* far away, in Mundelein, IL...just over an hour away from me, south of the border. The Turbo Buick guys know him well, and hes done many many WI owners cars, including my friends. Id recommend him if you want the OD :).

Ummm, I'll get back to ya on that one. LOL

I'll keep him in mind.Thanks.

Well I am off to the garage to see how much messin around the SBO headers would be and if I'll need a remote filter.

Well manifolds it is. The SBO headers need a lot of smashing on one tube and the starter won't fit anyway. The BBO/A-body headers I have would work with some cutting and welding but I don't have a welder and I don't have a lot of time :(

I may modify the BBO ones at work and fit them later

The Supercomps do the same thing for the SBC's for true duals. Friend of mine has them like that, wrapping around the frame...I wasn't aware that his turning was limited too much though, I think there is a slight rubbing though on full lock.

Rocket Power

the decreased turning is less of an issue than the $500. LOL:eek:

The lower power can only help the life of the 2004r. he he

And besides cast iron manifolds are COOL !:bling

Well progress is slow due to me working a second job now. But I just have one pipe to hook up,and gotta buy new rad hoses, and fix a brake line. HOPEFULLY I will get finished THIS weekend.

So Jamie, how is the motor swap situation? Still got some clean roads yet to do some burners on with the 455 :3gears: .

Rocket Power

I have a few wires to fix, a new trans mount to put in,brake line to fix, and gauges to hook up and I think that's it. Maybe this weekend, but it seems as though I've said that before;)

Sorry thing is after lil money into my 455 in my H/O ill be close to my GTA weight is close!!! but ya can't beat that big block torque. Like the exspensive olds can produce. Well I didn't get it finished up all the way but It did leave the garage under it's own power. Into the driveway ,then I put another motor in the garage then pulled it back in. Yep it's a little spicier that a 307;)

PB86MCSS
11-30-2003, 10:04 PM
I would be working on that sucker 24-7 until it was working right, and then promptly find some tires to melt off :D. Hope the snow/salt lays off for you to enjoy it some first.

Rocket Power

Tires aren't a problem :)
I have been working alot lately and have been getting home late.:fire

Hopefully I'll get home at a resonable time some night this week and finish up most of the stuff:3gears:

When I was putting it back in the garage I gave it a blip and, yep, there's a little more torque on tap:goof
If I had fixed the brake line I would have taken around the block. That'll get done this week.

I have to work 6 days a week 10-12 hrs a day til x-mas:fire so I don't have a lot of time to play, still gotta work in some family time. end of rant :D
