at least you know....

That pic is all sorts of wrong.

First off that pic is of a 2004 Vauxhall vxR Monaro. Not a Holden, Not a Pontiac.

On top of it, it's LS1 powered, i.e. 5.7l

That pic is all sorts of fail right there.

Actually Dan-O, they used the "427" tails all five years in the UK, and those are the OLD 19's All vxR Monaros had 19's to my knowledge.. Those aren't the CV8-R wheels either, the CV8-R wheels were 18's. Look at the rear bumper too, single side exit. Anything LS2 powered would have had the 19" 20 spoke HSV "GTO" wheels.

whats the difference between a Ford Taurus and a Mercury sable?

not even close, dipshit.

in general the UK versions were already the "HSV" versions of the OZ counterparts.

They were already hotted up, larger wheels thank the us and oz versions, and then HSV parts like upgrades brakes, rear ends, etc. They also got dealer supported upgrades. Want a Harrop M122 blower? Done, and with a warranty! Want a short throw shifter? Done and with a warranty. Want a full pedders suspension? Done.

Plus there were huge price breaks.

The Monaro in OZ was $60,490 for the regular cv8, and 73990.00 for a HSV model, and 32quid in the UK and 33k in the US. Hell, on Auto Trader Australia there are 2002 Monaros going for 40k

Just look at the prices on the used market. I'm going off of Holden's website for HOLDEN CERTIFIED used cars in all of Australia.

2005 MONARO

and heres the ONLY THREE 6.0L cars for sale. These are rare and sought after.

The GTO Sure looks like a bargain now considering this information:
In 2001, the value of one Australian dollar went below 50 U.S. cents for the first time, touching 47.75 U.S. cents in April 2001.
On 28 February 2008, the Australian dollar reached a 23-year high against the U.S. dollar, peaking at 94.98 U.S. cents.

Dan that coupe 60 is awesome, i'm sure like usual, everyone but the US will like it if it's also made were and will be another "failed GTO" Meanwhile you and I will happily drop 35k for whatever Holden/HSV brings us.

:alcoholic I didn't say anything about the drive train. I think they look pretty similar though. I will say again that the LS platform small block is the best thing GM has ever developed. I also think it's sad that the best car they have to put it in is a Caddy.
