Rant and Question, all in a first post...wOOt! :banana1:

My right rear wheel bearing is toast. I have gone to a few local shops searching for someone to replace it for me. Here are the three normal responses:

-Can't do press-fit

-Let me schedule you in (never available at given time, seems to not want to)

-$900, not including parts

So here is what I did: I went to napa and rented their super hub and bearing removal tool. To get this thing from Mac costs about $600, I don't think that there is a better one out there.

Anyway, I set this thing up the way it is supposed to be and use an impact to give it the beans. After stressing an IR impact to its limits, I switch to a 3/4 inch monstrosity and proceed...no luck. Thing won't budge.

The next step in my book is to use a hydraulic press to push this bearing/hub assembly out. BUT, I do not know how strong this thing needs to be (tonns).

Here is a write-up of the proceedure, if you are wondering what it looks like:

If I go to Northern Industrial, how many tonn press should I get?

5, 10, 12, 20???
