well. ive been looking over your forums for a while now and i guess i just up and decided to join today.

my name is nate some of you may or may not know me. i do a little cruising down on hwy once and a while. i also spend a little time down at gld. i drive a 06 Chevy cobalt ls. witch im in the process of building up my internals and turbo charging. the turbo i plan on using is a t3-t4 either 50 trim or 57 trim. im going to be using the aem fic to tune with seeing how the ls doesn't have any non piggyback tuning yet. the car started out as a mid 16 sec are and by the end of the summer i was able to drop a full second with my best run of 15.4. my mods at the time of that run were.

engine mods.injen full cai, catless down pipe,down pipe back exhaust, twm short throw,

handling mods. solid poly trans mounts, "mrz strut bar" i wouldnt consider that a mod.

future mods/build.
eibach sportlines, turbonetics t3/t4 50trim/or 57trim, progress rear swaybar, turbotech solid engine mounts, jbp stg 1 cams, aem fic, and a few others.

goals from this build are to break low 14's and be somewhere in the 250 hp range. will see though

ur telling me i shit my self when it happen.. but any givin day anything can happen. i probly should add. i dumped alot of shit out of the car.. when i made that run.. i did the basic uber jdm weight reduction..

They have Cobalt times on Jbody.org (since it's pretty much the same set-up). When I was a active member there....there were plenty of guys pulling 13's without much work at all.

If you need tuning....give Brian ( http://brewcitymuscle.com/forum/member.php?u=794 ) a shout. He is a master. You've probably even heard of him...lol.

well the bottom end of the 2.2l is good for eh.. 300ish.. but everything up top needs to be replaced around 250 crank hp. the lsj aka" 2.ol ss/sc" everything inside is good for 350 hp befor anything needs to be touched.

the 2.2l and the 2.0l is the same engine except the 2.0 is a destroked version of the 2.2l.

well i actually bought the car about a year ago. i didnt really have the money at the time to buy either cars i really wanted. "ss/sc or srt-4" so i went and did some test driving test drove a scion tc and a cobalt ls. and it really came down to financing. so i bought the cobalt. i have so many miles on the car it wouldnt be worth trading in to trade up. so im going to keep it till it blows up. and just buy a new car wen i need it.

well there are about a few people who have swapped out the blowers for a tc and are all pushing around 330 hp. all them on stock internals. " aside from 2 or 3 of them" non of them having any problems. now the new ss/tc cobalt "lnf" that is going to be a huge steaming pile of shit.

this is basically the set up ill be doing but a little more aggressive tune. his setup is a has a smaller turbo. he is using the garrett GT2860RS. ill be using a t3/t4.

for sure. where both buying parts right now but it sounds like jordan is going to be starting b4 me.. are goal is to get his car started in a Friday night and be finished on a sunday afternoon/ with a tune. ready to do a little cruising we all know that it wont happen that way but will see .hahaha.

i on the other hand i plan on having the parts on my car with a basic tune in 3 days. seeing how its my daily driver. i need a tune that will just let me get to 60% throttle so i can d my running. lol.. so we figured we will work out all the bugs on jordans car hahaha.

Neat little Cobalt, I love the Ecotec engine. I have a HHR with the 2.2 Eco. Probably do some easy mods in the spring like CAI. Just to help the breathing. Not sure about those HID lights, might go with HIR. BTW Welcome to the site.

i know a guy from chicago who has a hhr with the 2.4l, he has an intake, header back and a 75 shot and he ran i believe a 13.97.. pretty quick for a wagon.

alright. the lnf is the name of the new turbo engine thats going to be in the cobalt and the hhr. it has vvt comes with 260 hp same for tq. and a small turbo. the problem is that they got way to involve with the tuning. they went and made the tuning so finicky that its going to be a nightmare to tune. if they would have ditched the vvt and kept the lsj "2.ol sc" engine and turbod it. the car would have came with 300 hp stock. the only problem with that is the engine wouldn't have passed emissions. but it would be 10x mod friendlier.

well the the the lsj doesnt have vvt. and the lnf does.

let me put it this way the lsj can be tuned by a retard and run like a champ. the pcm practicaly maps everything out for u.

the lnf 2.ol vvt has 512 fuel perimeters and you have to ajust short trim long trim... ect. and it doesnt really map its self out for you. so your stuck with the gm stage kits. witch are non existant. but the plust side to the the new cobalt it has no lift shift. you can run full throttle with the clutch in between gears and the pcm ajust to it.. its really cool
