Trying to decide what I'm going to do with the insight....

See, it'll take ~ 5000 bucks to swap out the batteries if/when that day comes, since honda will no longer either cover or subsidize the cost of replacement for my car (over 150,000 miles).

SO, at this point, I think I could sell the car for ~ 9000 bucks, which would be a good profit for me.

Another solution would be to just hold onto it until the battery goes (unknown as to when) and then go for a swap....

ala:
http://www.tamparacing.com/forums/lht-performance/425659-k20a-insight-lht.html

Basically, a 200hp K20a...with 6 speed swap.

So, take an 1860 lb car, take out a couple hundred pounds in batteries, swap in an engine that puts out nearly 4X's the original engine's output (and swap the instrument cluster), and viola! probably a 12 second daily driver that also get's nearly 50mpg.

What would some of you import guys figure a swap like this would run?

thanks for the input....

If you swap a K20 Type-S motor, it will cost about 5k for everything (engine, trans, ecu, axles, cluster, mounts, wiring harness, and install)

well, that's the thing. I won't do anything until the battery goes, and that's the unknown. I haven't had any issues with the IMA or have had any excessive calibrations which are signs of the battery coming toward the end.

See, this year I've spent WAY too much money...but there was no getting around it. 30+G on the fiancee, over 5G on the hearing aides...

...but then found out recently as the first batch of guys who are running into full cost replacement, and I'd rather not have to spend so much just for a stinking battery. If I sold it now, I think a 3G profit wouldn't be such a bad thing (i got it for a steal, most with my mileage go for a pretty penny).

BUT, if i could do this swap in for around the same price, I'd just look at it as a "new to me" car per se.

Maybe it'd be cheaper to do just a straight up civic si (1.6) swap or something to...i'll have to look into my options.

I've got a call into the shop to see what they'd charge on something like this....it'll help me make my decision to keep or sell.

We'll see.

do the K Swap. That would be cool. Check out www.ridesafely.com and you can pick up a crashed RSX-S for between 3-5K and then part out what ever you don't use or want.
