I saw one this morning and was like WTF....i know the Five Hundred replaced the Taurus...but then they brought it back in the form of a SUV? I never heard or seen any advertisement for this SUV.

It's the Freestyle just renamed as the Taurus X.

How did I know the Taurassss expert would be the first to respond to this?

Thanks Michelle :thumbsup

The Taurus has been back for maybe 6 months now. Its EXACTLY the same as the Five Hundred, just rebadged back to a car the american buyers know and trust. A Taurus isn't any Bimmer or Mercedes, but typically speaking, they are pretty reliable. And look at how well they sold.... Guess Ford figured they could try to drag their ass out of the mud by reviving a car they never should have killed

Incorrect.

Same platform, different engine...

Edit:

2007 Ford Five Hundred: 201-horse version of the 3.0L V-6 Duratec
2008 Ford Taurus: 3.5-liter V-6 with 263 horsepower

id say it looks like the freestyle just has a little bit of a makeover for the upcoming model year

here is proof

Vehicle Summary
For 2008, Ford has dumped several of its slow-selling monikers, hoping fresh faces and new (old) names will revive sales. The Five Hundred sedan and its Mercury Montego twin become the Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable, respectively, while the Freestyle wagon becomes the Taurus X. Although the names recall famous, and top-selling, Fords of yesteryear, all three are essentially freshened versions of their predecessors.

The Taurus X also received a new motor... And once again it's the 3.5L replacing the 3.0...

well every gen 3 sho had the cam issue, and even to this day ford has not had any sort of a recall. I don't even think there was a TSB about it. There is currently a class action lawsuit against fomoco, and still no recall.

No, I think the saying is: No matter how much you polish a turd, it can still be badged as a GM product.

BTW-how did your button replacement go this weekend:rolf

I can't believe they are still using the TAURUS name....
it has such a bad rep..... the 90's Taurus's were such P.O.S.

IMO it would be cool if the new Taurus SHO borrowed a 6-Speed Manual Transmission, AWD and a Turbo 5-Cyl engine from it's platform mate... The Volvo S60 R...

went great bob. took me 20 minutes to install a $19 dollar part. I spent more time reprogramming and resetting the options on my DVD player that were lost from the battery disconnect. So when are we racing again? I enjoyed walking all over that turd.
