Speed inc. open house!

Well the date is posted for the open house and figured I would start a thread to see who is all going and who wants to meet up and cruise down. It was a great time last year and should be a blast again this year! The date for this year is April 26th. Hopefully the weather will be as good as it was last year.

If you haven't went to this before and you like to see a wide varitey of cars, I suggest you make the drive down.

Yeah the car will be done. It is just getting the paint finished up. I don't know if I will do a huge burnout or not. Not really somthing I like to do on a crowded street with a 600hp car.

Last year we got there around 10am and there were people there but it wasn't to busy yet. Got some good parking spots and could walk through the shop and things without it being to packed. From 10-11 it started to get real busy with people coming in and a lot of burnouts. There was a steady stream of cars coming and going the rest of the day. I think it goes on until like 3 or 4 but not sure.

They had pizza's being delivered pretty much all afternoon so they do serve food and drinks.

Speed inc. is in Schaumburg IL. They are a speed shop. Every year they have any open house/customer appreciation day and there are hundreds of cars that show up and most of them do burnout on the street. There are some very nice cars that show up and it is like a huge car show. There was an awesome video that project camaro made from last years on here but I think it maybe gone after the system crashed. I will see if I can find it. Last year a bunch of us met up and cruised down and it was fun.

It is a good way to start off the summer and have some fun I think.

Just an FYI for everyone interested in this. I have also posted this on SVTperformance and my brother posted it on ls1gto. So this cruise could get pretty good size. Not sure if you will think that is a good thing or bad but it could mean a little more fun on the trip down if you know what I mean. Last year we were pretty good until the first toll booth and then about 7 cars that all pulled up to different booths at the same time all got to leave about the same time. I was the last car and didn't get to take off with the rest but the guy in the toll booth thought it was awesome and said "damn that is some crazy shit". Anyway, you get the idea.

Tom, to bad your car won't be done! Would have been fun to see it. You can certainly come with one of us if you don't want to drive down. I won't have a passenger either and you are certainly welcome to ride with me as well! I plan on taping the cruise down and I want to get any burnouts that we do so I can make a video of it. We should probably start thinking of a meeting place. We used the park and ride off of Ryan rd last year on the east side. That worked fine but if someone know better that speak up. Would also like to get some pictures before we go. Probably be the only time that we could all park next to each other before we get there!

Just a couple weeks away now. Is everyone still planning on going and are we going to be meeting in 2 places. Lets plan on meeting at Miller park like stated earlier and then we can stop at the Ryan rd park and ride and pick up the rest that want to meet down there. We should probably meet at Miller park about 7:30am and Ryan rd about 8:00am. It worked out good getting down there a little early last year because we didn't have to park very far away and you can get through the shop without a lot of people being in the way then get outside to watch all the burnouts.

I know there is a guy from the gto forum that is meeting there. He came with last year. He was the one with the red gto and the aftermarket hood on it. I haven't heard who else is meeting there. I have seen quite a few people post they are going but haven't said where they are meeting.

For all the people that are going on here, please post up where you are meeting so I can figure out about how many at each place. We will try not to leave anyone behind but make sure you are somewhat on time. We will wait for a bit but not forever.

Make sure you also bring along some change for the toll booths. We go through 2 on the way down and 2 on the way back. First one has people working in them the second was the type you throw money into. Unless you just want to take the I pass and hope you don't get a ticket in the mail!:thumbsup
