Looks like 8.9 @ 161. I have a very hard time believing that's a stock T56. If it is, it didn't last long. :wow

People have gone 7.90s at 185+ on the stock T56 I believe. Most people do eventually upgrade to a GForce internals T56 - either by choice or if/when they do break a stock T56. Either way a T56 does handle that sort of power. The stock Dana rear also holds up as well. Mine has a GeForce T56, and a Quaife diff, with Mark Williams halfshafts but basically "stock" drivetrained Vipers run 1500+ HP and those types of times with full weight and interior, and the factory drivetrain configuration - not gutted race cars. Stock engine block, heads(ported obviously, but stock castings) and crank as well.

How is he able to make so many runs w/o a cage?? I guess that track don't have those rules??

Yes, until 99. Then they went to hypereutectic pistons and I think non forged rods of some. I think the crank is still forged. The 96-99 GTS is basically the best stock motor they made, it had the all forged Gen II motor.

Its on the dyno currently, so they should be finishing up tuning it hopefully within a few days. All they are waiting for then is the modified side rockers for the side exhaust to come back from the body shop, then they are gonna clean it up and I should have pics and be flying out to take a look. They may rent a track for me as well while I am down there

Many tracks bend the rules, including the Grove used to like crazy. Not sure now that they are NHRA again. Especially for newer sports cars that go 11's and 200 MPH factory stock like the Viper, Vette, or Exotics.

I would gather that the guy was just trying to get a good timeslip, so didn't care about the tree and just wanted to be sure to not redlight and to launch well rather than worry about cutting a good light.
