this works pretty slick. Looks just like a police scanner in Windows Media Player.
Says the city/base that is speaking.

Cool Find!

Just fire from what I can tell, no? I see them all listed and it seems there aren't any Milwaukee Cty. police stations listed other than the sherrif.

If you guys are interested in getting emailed when there are fires, shootings, major accidents. You should subscribe to Wisconsin Incident Alert. Its free and the guys who are listening to the feeds etc., send out emails with details. Its actually pretty cool.

Interesting site. When I used to freelance at the Journal/Sentinel they had scanners in the photo area. You heard a lot of interesting stuff while editing your shots.

Nothing really changed, MFD just went to the federally mandated "Clear Text" so instead of 10-4 its "Message Received" etc.

Here is a break down of the few 10 codes we are still using and the ones most commonly still used even though they shouldn't be..LOL, Old habits die hard.

10-52/BLS Transport Unit = private ambulance(responds no lights no sirens) - Bell,Curtis,Medacare, or Paratech depending on where in the city the call is.

10-52 Emergency/BLS Transport Emergency.(responds lights and sirens) This is when the situation is more severe or if the patient is outside in inclement weather.

Remember these are always requested by an already on scene MFD engine or Ladder truck. Any Private type calls where only an ambulance responds are always "emergency".

10-53 = requesting Milwaukee PD squad to investigate etc.

10-53 Emergency = Milwaukee PD for someone causing trouble at a incident

10-54 = you never want to hear this, its Firefighter in trouble, police are requested to go as an "assist"

and of course 10-99 is Deceased

Just the last 4 codes are the only ones you will always hear as 10 codes. The rest should always be plain english although that doesn't always happen.

Im not sure if Radio Shack stills sells it- theres a book call Police Call thats published yearly and it has all the frequencies used by everyone locally. Police, fire, air traffic control, wireless (non-cellular) phones, trunked frequencies & etc. I got it a few years ago when I got a scanner & it was cool knowing the exact frequencies for whatever you wanted to listen to.

I beleive they still do, but since most the FDs and PDs went to the trunked setup in the area i know it was alot harder because instead of just having individual frequnencies for each department, they shared them with the whole county and then would have to have their own trunked ID which was unique to each department. when they did that i just searched the internet and got all the info form local guys.

Well, now thats strange. Its transmitting thru windows media player, and is working good for me at this point. This is probably a dumb question, but the only thing I can think of at this point. Is the volume control up inside the windows media player box on the website? If it is, then maybe just try closing it out and opening IE or Firefox again. Sorry I can't be of more help.
