I know someone else recently posted a very similar question, but I was wondering, what was everyone's very FIRST car? Not all the cars you have ever had, but your very first? The first one with "only you" on the title. What happened to this car? And if you could have it back, would you want it back again? For me, my first "very own" car was a 1979 Z28. I still have this car, and would never, ever part with her for any sum of money. :)

My Grand Am is the first car with my name and only my name on the title. And I love this car and don't ever want to have to get rid of it.

I haven't had my first car with only my name on the title yet. My mom's name is on my '01 Taurus' title since I was under 18 when I bought it. She expected me to take it off the day I turned 18, but I have been lazy. (:

Mine was my 72 Cutlass Supreme. Brown, gold stripes. Olds 350. Headers with glass packs. Loud ass car. Only 1 truck at my HS sounded louder (which at that time meant everything)

Honestly is was a roach, but I loved that car. I didn't even know what a Cutlass looked like, but as soon as I saw it I wanted it. I never even drove it when I bought it. Me and my dad looked at it, and paid for it on the spot. First time I filled the tank I found out the top of the gas tank was rusted out. That was 1 of many problems the previous owner didn't say anything about.

The right rear quarter had some hack try and put a panel on it, but they did it wrong so the panel sucked in. Later found out it had almost an inch of bondo on most of that side. lol Car was not worth saving.

Dad ended up selling it on me while I was away at school. Got $350 for it I think. Which hardly covered the $2000 or so I had into the motor that he didn't know about. Saw parts of it for sale at the Elkhorn swap meet the following year.

One day I will find one and build it like I had dreamed. I still love the Supreme body style over the 442.

1973 Duster with a custom flame paint job. 74K original miles. I had to sell it because I needed something I could rely on to drive downtown for college 4 years ago. The trunk pans were shot and the quarters needed to be replaced as well. It needed a lot of body work. I would buy it back and restore it, then drop a real engine in it. It only had the 225 slant, but it looked fast. It was a great first car because it was easy to work on. I miss that car. Here's a few pictures I took just before I sold it. I chromed the engine because I bought the car when I was 15 and my old man wouldn't let me do anything to make it faster because he figured I'd get into a lot of trouble. I did have a 360 I bought after a couple of years, but never got around to building it because college came along and my finances/time were pretty much gone.

Only picture it in a light green color with a white vinyl top.

I miss that car, it would have made a good winter beater! It had 69,000 miles. The air conditioning still worked perfectly and the interior was mint (except for some holes in the dash from mounting a CB radio )

1984 Camaro Z28 5.0 H/O 5-Speed... My first titled car, and first manual muscle car ever in life...I sold it when I bought my next Camaro, a 97 Z28 6-Speed...

Would I like it back? Sure, because it had the original 84 Z28 3-tone sticker ground effects, and original GM metallic grey paint with gold flakes in it...and was my first true muscle car experience.. it brought me from the darkside of tuners... But if I had it this time around I would like an LS1 swap, lol:thumbsup

89 Mustang GT.

http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/2466/imgqj6.jpg

Story.

Friend of mine bought an 89 GT while we were in high school, always thought the car was awesome, didn't make enough money to get anything like that. 2 years later another friend of mine bought an 88 GT. Always took me out for rides and even let me drive it a few times on "hwy" when that was still cool. Still didn't make enough money to get one. Decided to save pennies so I could get one. About a year later, bought an 87 GT T-Top car from "horseplay" on this board (sam gillis.) Didn't know anything about cars mechanical wise, thought it was a fun car. Couldn't fix even minor problems so I decided to sell it rather quickly. About 4 months later I see a red 90 GT with chrome wheels for sale in Delafield. Look at the name, recognize it as someone I went to school with. Was such a steal, I couldn't pass it up. Had 19,000 miles on it. Perfect condition. Bought it a few days later. Wanted to "mod" it but couldn't bring myself to do anything to such a prestine fox, never saw one that clean before. So I started looking for a "built" car that I could just beat on. Find this 89 GT in Pewaukee. Test drive it. Want it real bad. Had so much work done to it, by far the fastest car I had ever driven. Got price. Couldn't afford it, was way over my budget as I already had a loan with my dad for the 90. Time goes by. See an ad for an 89 GT in the paper. "built, blah blah." Call. Same 89 GT from a while back, much lower price. Go drive it. Still want it bad. More in price range now. Whats up? Go to bank. Get loan in my name. Get phone call. "Something happened to motor, bringing it in to get it looked at." Call back later that week. "needs new valves, something went wrong." I know little about it so I jsut say alright, let me know when its done, I still want it.

About a week after I got it, put less than 100 miles on it, motor blows sky high. #8 cylinder wall cracked. Piston broke up in block. D.S.S. Pro Bullet block, shouldn't have happened. Never found cause. Figured I got ripped off, oh well $hit happens. Long long story short. Had to sell the 90 to buy parts for the 89 to fix it. Never ended up fixing it, ran out of money. Sold everything I had to a guy in Minnesota for more than I had into it including the new parts. 2 weeks later, he steals my credit card number and orders $4,000 worth of parts from Summit. Tried to get car back in a lawsuit, didn't win. Got the $$ and a few extra $$ for court costs.

I'd buy this car back in a heart beat if I could. Prestine shape. Fast. Fun. First car I bought on my own. I'd also like that 90 back. The guy I sold it to still has it, it lives in Hartland. Story done. Sorry for length.

I got the money back that he put on my credit card and some extra money to pay for the court costs and all that jazz. And lol about the story, if I typed it any other way it would have been 23000020392 pages long. I really miss that car though, both of them. I spent all my time and money on those cars back then. I washed that black one a million times even though it never moved from the driveway, it sat outside. Another funny side not... Well funny now anyway... One day when I was cleaning the interior of the car I came across a fire extinguisher that the previous owner had mounted under the passenger seat. I assumed it was there because he had installed a mechanical fuel pressure guage inside the car with braided SS line to it. I went to remove the extinguisher and boom, somehow it "blew" up. There was white $hit all over everything inside the car. I was so pissed. Took me hours to get rid of all of it, it went everywhere. Ah those were the days. If only things were that simple again.

1978 Chevy Nova 250 I-6 powerhouse. Learned to drive in it and then it was my first car. My Grandparents bought it new then I eventually got it. Sold it back around 89-90 found it again next to a house in North Cape in the early 90's ( I had painted some GSX-ish stripes on the side so it was easy to tell) then when I finally got some extra money to try and get it back it was gone. Probably not around anymore, got the VIN number around somewhere but never got around to searching.

My first was a 1964 Buick Lesabre 4-door sedan i bought for $50. The floor pan was rotted out and the seat was held up by a 2X4 between the door sill and the drive tunnel. Had the 300 cid engine. I loved it so much that I bought a better 64 Lesabre 4-door hardtop for the same money but it had a solid floor. I drove it from Milwaukee to California where I drove it for a couple of years before I gave it away.

Funny this post came up, I just found an old photo of my first ride this weekend.
My fist ride was a 1979 Chevy Malibu that I bought for $300 from my cousin. It didn't run and the front end was damaged from hitting a fire hydrant. The photo below is what it looked like a year after I bought it. Later I dropped a new motor in it and was on my way to upgrading allot about the car when it was stolen. Haven't scene or heard of it since.
