Too bad you can't depend on smart people to just not buy them at that price. But idiots with money will prove to the dealers that they were right.

i am kind of torn on the whole idea of dealer markup. in one hand i think that the simple rule of supply and demand controls everything else, so why should it be different in the automotive world?!?! on the other hand though i find it odd that dealers can get away with pocketing obsene profits on cars like this while the manufacturers sit and watch. when i was looking into getting a mustang, i just could not see giving someone $20K more than what FORD was saying it was worth?!?! to each their own i guess. if someone wants this car, they will buy it, bottomline.

man that is a badass looking car but not worth even the $69k in my book. I would gladly dump that on a C6 but not this although it would be close.

if i had 129k to blow on a car it would have a Nissan badge on it.

Wait till we see what the dealers want for the ZR1. People are already willing to pay $70 for the new Challengers.

It could be possilbe i'm not saying it's gonna happen but it could. Thing is i'd like to see a Z06 perform in the Rain or Snow if it needed like the new GTR can. for the money the GTR I think is a better buy.

With the performance radials that this car will come with, the only thing you will be doing if you try pushing it real hard in the rain or especially snow, is pulling whats left of your destroyed car and shattered body out of a stand of trees. This ain't some rally bred car with Hakkapeliittas and some ground clearance, it's road car with super performance summer tires.

Example: A buddy of mine bought himself a STi a few years ago, and left the tires it came with on for the winter because after all, it was an AWD car and they go through anything, right? The first good snow fall we got, he never even made it out of his driveway. That's because he was too busy hitting the side of his garage with it.

i see what your saying and yes the awd will be better for traction but who the hell is going to drive a GTR or Z06 in the snow? If you've got enough money to buy either one, you should be able to afford to buy a pos 4wd truck.

With a screen name like nimsodave, that's quite a startling revelation. :wow
The problem for you is, I doubt that the car will come in powder blue.

i forgot you can't put snow tires on a car?

True, But it would be nice to be able to be able to take the car out if it's raining and not worry about what could happen. or if you were out in it and it started raining.

Now your modifying the situation. Okie Doke, put four dedicated snows on the Z and it will run around just fine, right up until it runs out of ground clearance, just like the GTR.

IMO, AWD on a car made strictly for running on pavement is kind of a waste.

Oh, that's right, all RWD cars immediately crash upon the barest hint of moisture on the road. :durr
Maybe instead of letting a car do all of the driving for you, you invest some of that GTR income on some driving lessons.

the new Evo is hot! I like the GTR and the ZR1 but lets face it, if you dump over $50-$70k on a car, MOST(95%) are not going to drive it in incliment weather so that arguement is pointless. Damm near every car nut here with decent cars wont take em out in the rain and the avg value is what $20-$40k? make the comparison fair. $$ for $$ the ZR1 will own that car BONE STOCK, now that is not to say that the GTR isnt a worth car but it was designed for a different intent and market.

I have a 300zx TT that I have had for 15 years and it has NEVER been unreliable. I will probably never get rid of it. I also have two ZO6's one near bone stock, (2004 Z16 #1314), and a 2003 with many mods (track only car).
If I was looking to buy the GTR or the ZR1 it would be a decision that would take some research and thought, performance, reliability, resale and more. What does drive me nuts is guys that only look at 1/4 mile times, it's not 1968 any more.

I hate when magazines post 1/4 time. Those guys suck at driving!! Didn't they list the Z06 in the 12's? thats rediculus, how bad do you have to suck to not even get it the the 11's?
