It's fixed now!!! But the damage is done of 12 years of an oil leak. If I ever get on my back I'm quite filthy. :banana1:

The caprice has the same damn leak though :(

I was just in Medford for new years! Never heard of the guy though. I've heard of car companies giving a free new vehicle to somebody who passed 1,000,000 on their car. I've heard that they like to "disect" them and find out why it was able to go that many miles.

Most I got on a truck was 365,000 when I sold it (Gpa bought it brand-new)...it had roughly 90psi cranking compression, near zero oil pressure.

Got to the point where I would simply add oil when I heard the lifters clacking.

But it did so well like that, I don't think it would have ever failed despite the shoddy care it got from 200,000 miles onward.

a guy came into work one day and asked us if we wanted to take a pic of his truck?!?! we were like WTF? turns out he had almost 800,000 miles on his 2000 MY f350 dually. he delivers RVs and campers all over the country. never even had the tranny rebuilt. only major things he has had to replace was some wiring that was chewed through by his dog and 2 water pumps. i talked to the guy last july and he had passed 1,000,000 miles that spring. tried to sell him a new truck but he did not find the need yet, LOL!

maintainence goes a long way on any brand.

My buddy has an 89 with 300k on it. It seizes up on him here and there due to a bad head gasket but he hits it with the breaker bar and she's good for another 2500 miles. It's hillarious. He calls it "ol blue"

If GM is smart they will use this guy and his truck for marketing. Those late 80's/early 90's low compression TBI 350's found in trucks, vans, etc. should last long, not much power or stress on them. Probably an L05 or the like :D .

my neighbor has racked up 250k miles on his 99 F250 with a powerstroke. only thing he has done to it aside from maintenance is a wiring harness under the valve cover that controls the injectors and glow plugs, and for some reason his truck eats ball joints left and right.. I think he did a radiator too, but im not sure. He was pulling the RV trailers all over the country too. Had he continued doing that kind of work, Im sure he would have had much much more mileage.

On a diesel, it's not impressive at all. sorry.

02-02-2008, 11:34 AM
well he's still got it. but he hasnt had to do anything like a waterpump, or exhaust, or any crap like that. He just doesnt run it as hard as he used to, but I do know he was pulling 15,000-20,000lbs or more with that poor truck. He had a 50ft 5th wheel trailer and would load 2 or 3 travel trailers ontop of that.

I read about a guy who put over a million miles on a mid 90's accord a year or so ago and Honda gave him a brand new one for free.
