Yeah that works awesome for the wiring harness convoluted tubing.

J - pledge works great cuz it shines like tire foam, and doesnt leave the residue and it resists dust.

383 is pointless with an lt1 not worth the money. im thinking her plan is rebuild the motor for cam and SPRAY? bye bye ten bolt. btw looks really good. wish i could race you again. keep up the good work :thumbsup

I'm not even sure yet what I want to do. It kind of depends on whether the bores will need to be enlarged. If they do (which seems likely) it will be getting forged pistons, if not, new rings on the stock pistons. Other than new bearings, rod bolts, etc., and a new clutch, it's still up in the air. Maybe a nice valvetrain and full exhaust, or maybe nothing. And yeah the 10 bolt will not be long for this world. :/

Thanks though :D I'll put in a good word about your car when I can and good luck with the sale.

Why take off the bumper cover. You can also pull the lt1 out of the top with the tranny attached. Seems like alot of extra work.

well i was wondering about that stuff to. i dont know if i would leave the trans attached to the motor while taking the motor out. but im still wondering why the bumper cover has been removed maybe ls1 front end? i dont know i think this girl is hiding something from us.

Maybe shes going to mount an intercooler up front and leaver her bumper off.. That look always looks HAWT on the Civics!

The bumper cover came off so that the engine hoist could get in closer to the car, and also to avoid scuffing it up.

My front bumper came off to mount an intercooler, but only the fog lights stayed off.

You can leave the tranny attached while you pull the engine. Its the only way I have done it.

yep, had to remove front bumper cover on my car for the engine hoist.

i've taken out the 4l60e and a shortblock LS1 out the top w/ the hood still on in my old '98 Z. wasn't too hard.

Personally I think it's around 7 thousand times easier to take the trans out first and then the engine, course I take the trans out on the hoist with a trans jack and then push the car backwards 6 foot and use the car hoist's overhead bridge and an old chain hoist to lift then engine out.
Plus sometimes its more of a PITA to get the trans off on the floor than it is in the car, dunno haven't worked on any 4th gen F-bods but their engines look tucked and tight at the bellhousing.
I have never had the pleasure or displeasure of using a cherry picker.

I have never seen an LT1 but what a piece of work the front of that engine look's like.
Love the front mount distributor, were GM engineers attempting to replicate a 1930's Ford Flathead there.

What goes on the manual window regulator looking splined shaft above the water pump ?

I just looked again and its that weird waterpump drive, I know one thing about elty jaun I guess. :D

BAD LS1
01-30-2008, 02:52 PM
For me its easier dropping the trans first. This way the added 150 lbs does not make the engine hard to manuver out of the car, it will stay somewhat dynamic. Also the bumper being out of the way allows the hoist not to be extended out so far to the point that its very light in the ass and really hard to roll back.
