Basically I am removing all the chrome gayness from my Sierra, and its a time consuming process that I don't have the patience for. Where can I find one of those wheels that pulls the adhesive / tape off the paint without doing damage to the clear coat itself?

I used to have one, but I cant find it anywhere and can't think of what they are called.

Just be careful. They dont always work as advertised.

Heat gun and blistered thumbs is the safe way to go. :)

Pickard I dont think you understand, normally thats what I do but there is a pathetic amount of tape on the side of this truck. I am taking off all this gay chrome shit on the side:

I thought about trying fishing line, now that you mention it too I think I will give that a try tomorrow.

I found an awesome grille that I might buy and paint black, otherwise might just paint the GMC badge and keep the chrome grille on it. Everything else will be black.

Black projector headlights look ricer I think. Looking for black taillights with LED power on ebay atm

I did, then I saw tire prices. I like 16's just fine :goof

The truck is a hillbilly version of RICE as it sits, glue on hood scoops and stick on chrome. You guys seriously like it the way it sits?

Common, get real.

lose the scoops and the chrome visors for smoked visors and I think it would be perfect, just my own personal taste talkin there. only downside with wheels is ya got 8 lug there, so your choice is kinda limited.

Auto paint and supply in Waukesha carries those wheels. Used them to completely remove the sticky crap that holds on the door moldings of a fox mustang. Worked awesome. Took 2 full wheels to remove all the goo, no burnt clear coat or paint. Its right by autozone off of 18 in waukesha.

I'd peel those scoops off asap, I'd leave the chrome stuff on the side till spring, I'd rather have the salt and sand beat on that plastic chrome than the paint.

Every piece of molding. emblem and trim needs to go! get the bumpers blasted then painted, black grille... painted mirrors and door handles.

I have faith in you it will look good once done.

You must be bored. I'd leave it alone at least until it was decent outside. Unless you have a heated workshop or somethin...

I have access to one, yes. Thats what I've been using. So far the vent visors and mirror chrome has been removed, I pulled the long skinny chrome pieces off but haven't gotten all the freakin tape off yet. Gonna run over to Allis Paint today and buy me a magic wheel :)

The adhesive is a real ***** to get off in the cold though.

That is where I get them from. Be sure not to spin them too fast, they still can burn the paint off.

Why do people put that chrome trim along the bottom. :( I think it would look sick with those black rims from jegs pictured above!!!

If you are talking about what I think you are talking about, napa should carry them? I know the falls napa has them. They are made my Astro Pneumatic and are called a pinstripe removal tool (we call them the magic erasers.) It goes on a die grinder.

I paid $13 for this exact piece at a local paint supply and it worked awesome, I was just taking lettering off a pick up truck.
It does seem like it puts some swirl marks in the paint nothing you couldnt fix with a buffer tho.
Amazing how a gummy hard rubber wheel can do that.

People put it on because they are morons.

I got two of those Astro wheels from Allis Paint today, they come with a threaded rod so what exactly do I need to attach it to>? I checked through all my grinders and such, nothing takes a threaded rod like this. Thanks for the help guys, can't wait to get this junk off the trunk!
