Anyone ever hear of this trick?

I heard before that a seized engine can be unseized. Basically I heard, take out the spark plugs, put some coke in the cylinders, let it sit, put the plugs back in, and it should turn over.... any thoughts?

Doubt it. Good luck anyways though.

instead of coke try a good penetrating lubricant like kroil.... I have used it to get rings unseized in and old white truck engine :thumbsup

It depends on why it siezed. More often than not, the engine has major damage inside of it that is not related to rust. Not to mention that most mating surfaces consist of either aluminum or bronze, so there are no iron-on-iron surfaces to sieze.

Besides you will need alot of coke because it works really slow. You might want to try WD40 or PB blaster first.

As for the coke, you might want to go to McDonalds and hook run a hose from the spigot to your car and then prepare to wait a while.

Well you might get it unstuck but it will be a ticking time bomb. It wont reverse the damage done by it seizing. Probably get an hour or less out of it before it will fail in a spectacular manner.

Waste of coke.

If the exhaust goes bad, do you shove some strippers up there?
Seems like the same principle...
My A/C went out last year but I hooked my bong up to the compressor, put some buds in the dryer, and it works fine now!

im guessing it wouldnt have enough cylinder pressure to hurt itself anymore.
i bet it would smoke like a ***** too.

You should then see what stomach acid can do. It will make coke look like my little pony. Good luck trying to get that stuff out of you.

Well...make sure you use it for the correct reasons...engine "siezed" could refer to several different scenario's. Basically the only one this could work for is an engine that's sat for 5-10+ years and the rings rusted to the cylinder walls. But if it siezed due to lack of oil and the bearings basically welded to the crank, coke ain't doing crap.

Me, I used marvel mystery oil on a pontiac that sat for 17 years in a field...pulled the plugs, put copious amounts in and put the plugs back in. Few days later pulled the plugs again, poured some down and used a breaker bar to free it.

Got it started after getting new plugs, battery, borrowed carb, and gas...car ran for about a month after that, then vented the block racing some dumb z24 cavy (the old 2.8 v6 ones).

lol, I did love them...until they gave up.

Still, the best 100 dollars I ever spent. Sold the heads for 200 and the car for 500 after that :thumbsup
