What type of fuel additives are you running if any at all? With all the research ive been doing im seein that the ultra low sulfur fuel has a low lubricity rating.

Comments anyone?

I don't drive my Excursion Diesel much so I really don't know much about what fuels work better than others......

I just use my truck to tow my boat and car trailer now.....

tony

look for a sulfur additive. all the truckers I know run it through their semi's. the sulfur is what helps provide the lubricity in the fuel.

I've used the white bottle Powerservice in the Excursion for the last 5 years, never had a gelling problem with it in the tank, (Mandy got lazy a few years ago and wasn't putting it in and we had a problem on cold night) I get 1-1.5 better MPG towing with the stuff.....:D

I buy the small bottles (32oz?) by the case went it's on sale, $3.50 or so a bottle, I use half a bottle a tank full.

i use PS antigel in the winter. i use a stanadyne performance formula in the summer that my friends call smoke in a bottle, it smokes noticably more with it just like the old diesel. it adds twice the cetain as a normal additive. i would love to run off road diesel, i just dont want to get caught. LOL

The small bottles are 16oz That treat 50gallons. The middle size is 32oz and treats 100 gallons. Then they have a 5gallon that treats 2000 gallons. Or something like that.

Just an update. Been running Stanadyne Performance Formula since new. Have had no issues and the truck seems be getting great milage with winter fuel.

I use that in the summer and Power Service in the winter. Both work great, improving gas mileage. Both claim to reduce smoke, the Stanadyne seems to make quite a bit more though. Doesn't bother me really, the people behind me don't seem to care for it though. :goof

ULSD has shitty lubrication, thats the reason I run it. My truck wont smoke regardless with the DPF on it......

Stanadyne is the only additive GM has approved for the LMM engine.
