Well the car just rolled through the auction at russo and steele in scottsdale @ 930 here... But did not sell on the block!

The car made it all the way to 440,000 before it closed, we had the reserve set @500,000. A guy who owns a large company in phoenix made an offer of 600,000 before it through the auction and its going to be sold to him. Just need to finalize it all within the next hour.

That car is amazing but I suppose I would even let it go for that money. I hope everything works out on Tuesday for ya!

Holy hell Tom! I didn't think you'd sell it, but like everyone else said.. it would be hard to keep it when you could sell it for that.

I didn't see it on the show yet, and I've been watching it quite a bit this weekend.

Its not at BJ's so you wont see it on TV.

An awesome ride, but any car that could get that much money I'd probably have to sell as well. Maybe I missed some earlier threads but did you do alot of the restoration yourself? Hopefully the buyer is at least in the states :usa: .

Its a Copo 9737, which is a yenko specific order, the car was ordered and sold through yenko, it was meant to be converted to 427 power etc but 6 were not. There is one left known in exsitance just like this.

awesome tommy! What people forget is that technically this is a car but at the same time its no different than any other investment. This one had some family heritage however though but its a lot of coin sitting on 4 wheels! Sh1t if anything, build an exact clone and drive the sh1t out of it!! These super rare cars can't be driven anyways.

Thanks! That was a great read. I had no idea these "leftover" Yenko's could be so valuable and it is quite amazing that your father was able to track the car back down.

I hate using this term but, "Quoted for Truth".

I have to imagine the guy who bought this car could buy 10 more and still have cash left over.

Yeah the guy is kind of the private collector type and picks up really odd ball stuff.

As i mentioned in the BJ post, seems as though the intrest and money is shifting to the cars that fell second fiddle to the big boys like ZL1's, converted yenko's, Hemi mopars etc... They didnt bring anywhere near this that i seen this year. However there were a couple cobrajet mustangs that brought better than 600K though on BJ.

The car is rare, but its not THAT rare... but this goes to show how volatile the muscle car market is, it can be insane one year, and the bottom will fall out the next.

It would be super easy to make a clone driver @ 1/4 of the resto cost for this car anyway.

At least my mom can retire and stop commuting from oshkosh to west allis everyday now.

It all depends on the buyer. I mean hell the car went all these years without even knowing that it was what it was. But Tom's right, it's rare, but not that rare. To many it might mean much that it was a car that never was, but to another, it makes it more rare than one that was converted.

I, too, think you made the right decision, Tommy, no matter how hard it was to let go.

You should tell the guy you want the money in cash, in 1's and 5's... and to meet you under the 16th street via-duct at midnight...... and to come alone. :rolf
